Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Or Schizophrenia ? Posted: 08-10-05 03:23am
Hi all,
since 1994 that I have been diagnosed as
having a neurosis but my illness got so
worse in 2002 that I had auditive
hallucinations (two voices talking to each
other and voices commenting what I was
thinking and doing), mind reading, thought
broadcasting, strong delusions, ....
These hallucinations and delusions kept on
for 8 months without treatment.
My psychiatrist keeps on telling me that I
still have a neurosis and not
schizophrenia. He is sure about it.
There is another psychiatrist that thinks
that I am schizoaffective.
Someone told me the following thing:
"occasional patients with schizophrenia
may be misdiagnosed with
obsessive-compulsive disorder. Obsessions
and compulsions are indeed frequently
present in schizophrenia; however, a
person with true obsessive-compulsive
disorder will not have the thought
disorder, delusions, hallucinations, or
other symptoms that are also present in
schizophrenia."
do you think that I have schizophrenia
according to what I have said and what my
psychiatrists think of my illness ?
Is it possible that someone with ocd
develops psychotic symptoms for 8 months
without that being schizophrenia ?
