Are These Contractions?
Posted: 08-11-05 13:34pm

Hi,

last nite, I woke up to severe pains in the bottom of my stomach and at the sides. They last for about 30 seconds and came every 15/20 minutes for about 3 hours, then they just stopped.

When I woke up this morning, I had the same pains for a few minutes and throughout today and have been getting these pains.

I am just 38 weeks pregnant and dont know whether these are contractions starting?

I dont want to go to the hospital, in case its nothing.

What do you guys thinks?

Thanks in advance. :d

I have also started leaking fluid, would this be my waters breaking?

:? :? :?

I would deffinatly get yourself to the hospital, if they are not contractions then you need to get yourself checked out anyway.

went to the hospital last nite, everything is ok. Not in labour yet and baby is fine. Just have to wait and put up with the pains/contractions until they get closer together.

Thanks again.

Usually Want Us to Wait Until 5 Min Apart And Constant...

If it continues to stop it means not yet. But if they stay constant or if big gush of water, go to hospital. And of course if any blood present go to hospital.. Have you lost mucus plug??
It is slimy mucusy snot thing, usually tinged with blood. Sometimes comes within 2 weeks of delivery. Are you dialated at all? Usually 2 or 3 cm before we actually go into full(true) labor.

The pains come for every 20/30 minutes for about 3 to 4 hours, then stop for about 7/8 hours and then start back again. I have had some discharge over the past couple of days - it was clear, no blood.

In the hospital last nite, was told I wasnt dialated at all. :(

Contractions
Posted: 08-15-05 10:17am

I was wondering something. I am 32 weeks and for the last two days I have been cramping more and some lower back pain. This morning when I woke up about 6:30 my legs were both cramping. Is this a sign of contrations and what is the deal with my legs? If these are contrations they are about 30 to 45 min apart and then they last about 10 to 20 seconds. Just concerned.

Leg cramps are common, as I have said most women seem to drop around 32 weeks then agin at 2 weeks from due, then the day before. If the baby has dropped it would cause more cramping, more vaginal pains, more leg cramps along with b/h contraction preparing for that special day!!

Good luck fast safe delivery to you all

love "momma"

ps all the 20 somethings year old kids around here call me momma

Thanks for all your help.

Was at hospital appointment this morning. Doc sasy babies head is down completely. Just have to wait for him to come when he is ready. Hopefully its sooner rather than later.

Contractions seemed to have stopped, just come and go the odd time but very sore down there because of him lying so low.

I think you 2 are about same weks 32 right??

I am thinking the lower pains is mostly just the pressure of the baby getting in the birth canal. It will cause the pains in vagina and lower stomach--opening to 2 to 3 cm be4 remember?

Much luck and save speedy delivery to all of you.

Hi, i'm 38 weeks also, and I had the same thing happen to me sunday night (10/09) (the contractions) but didn't go to the hospital until monday night. I was told that my cervix hadn't dialated at all, but it had thinned. I'm really wondering if this means we're going to be going into labor soon!? I know you don't know the answer to this, as you are experiencing the same thing, but I wish you luck and hope all goes well. I really hope the end is near... :)

Hey- i've been having the same thing, and I went into hospital (twice) and was told I wasn't dilated at all.
I will not be going back to hospital now unles my waters break, or I actually see a head.
I don't trust myself to recognise proper labour any more- I was so sure the 2nd time. I had my mam come to my place at 3 in the morning, and had my dad drive me and the husband in, only to find out there was nothing going on cervix-wise.
I'm from dublin too- we emigrated to australia (melbourne) in 1986, when I was 8.
We lived in artane.
