Doesn't Really Matter What You Eat... Posted: 08-11-05 16:01pm
Eat what you want when you want, but in
smaller portions, and try some excercise
in the morning to boost your metabolism,
even if it's just an excercise bike...You
should lose weight pretty quickly, if it's
urgent that you lose weight and you don't
have any health conditions, you can do a
high protein diet which involves eating
all meat and a little veg, salad ( and I
mean a little). This isn't very good for
your body though, and you will put the
weight back on in the long term, but if
it's only your weight you are concerned
with then this is proven to work well, i.E
atkins. Be aware though it does have
repercussions, and I personally wouldn't
recommend it, but it does make you lose
weigh fast. No doubt about that. Why do
you need to lose weight anyway, treat your
body like your temple, excercise eat well,
and you can't go wrong.
All the best, xxx

It sounds like your doing the right things
already.....Ive personally found that if I
cut out most carbs out of my diet I lose
weight quickly (this never fails for me)
tuna, veggies, chicken, ect these are all
great things to eat. My other
suggestions would be to eat these foods in
small portions about 4-5 times a day, this
causes you metabolism to run at a much
faster rate. Also exercise will only
speed up the process, walking is a great
start.
Good luck

Why I Need to Lose the Weight Posted: 08-11-05 21:34pm
I need to loose the weight because I want
to go back into my normal size jeans. I
hate having to have to force myself into
the jeans and then my stomach is hanging
over a little. I just want to get down to
like 150 right now im at 160. I just need
to work on it. I am doin sit ups and push
and everything for the stomach any
suggestions. Im going to start doing some
walking every morning when I wake up.
Would that help me shred those 10pounds by
mid september. Im eating healthy too
salad, less food, I eat approx 3meals a
day if I get hungry in between I eat a
fruit or something. I don't know what
else to do, I do moderate excersie in my
home i.E situps, pushups,i walk the stairs
when im getting to my apartment also

To be honest sit ups dont do a whole lot
of good to make your stomach look thinner,
yeah they work the muscle but if that
muscle is covered up by fat then you are
not going to see results, the only way to
go that is cardio, and walking up stairs
to your apartment isnt enough(maybe if you
do it over and over again for 30minutes it
will but other wise it wont) , you need to
accelerate your heart rate (walk briskly)
for about 30 minutes at least 5 times a
week, this is the only way that you can
rid yourself of belly fat. Dont get me
wrong sit ups are great to tone the
stomach muscles, you just have to ride
yourself of the fat covering those
muscles.

It's better to eat in the morning and not
to eat in the evening at all.

Recommend high proteins, lesser amount of
carbohydrates (of which should come
significantly from complex carb sources),
and keep it down low on the fat.
Simple sugars, such as glucose, maltose,
fructose, if left unused by the body, gets
converted into fat, so you don't want to
eat more carbs then you need to.
So food such as fruits, dairy products and
the like, if you must eat them, eat them
in the morning or afternoon so you can
burn it throughout the day, make sure to
use them up with exercise or else.
Yes, increase your meal distributions, do
your very best to eat around 5 times a
day, around 3-4 hours in between. Don't
stuff yourself, it should be right at the
level of "satisfied (not full), but could
eat a bit more" level until the next few
hours before your next mini meal (which by
then you should be reaching hunger again).
This most definitely does increase your
metabolism.
If you are going to be doing weight
lifting, not necessarily heavy, but even
just as a toning regiment, keep in mind
that you will be using carbohydrates as
your primary source of energy. Your
muscles uses the glycogen (the form of
sugar your muscles use for energy)stored
in it to give you that short burst to do a
set. After you exercise and your glycogen
stores are depleted, your body converts
the simple carbs that you had in your diet
into glycogen and stores it (only a very
small amount can be stored), and what is
left over is what will turn to fat. Thus,
use weight training to control your carb
level.
Cardiovascular exercises primarily uses
fat to be broken down into energy, this is
something we all generally know. Some carb
is used as well for energy, but not much.
The level of difficulty will vary by the
person, do what you can, if you can swim,
swim, if all you can do is walk for now,
then do so, but make sure you are
stressing yourself just enough to get the
heart pumping and require some degree of
heavy breathing. The heavy breathing is an
indication from it being a anaerobic to an
aerobic exercise. The more you immerse
yourself in aerobic exercise, the more
readily your body will reach the energy
cycle using the fat stores, meaning the
faster you get to burn that fat.
Doing sit ups or other such things will
not cut down on your belly fat. Most of
the Exercise Science community experts for
the moment believe that there is no such
thing as spot reduction, meaning that one
can attempt to isolate an area and focus
on losing the fat there. There are some
theories that this may be possible, but as
of now no. Do your sit ups and other
toning regiments so that when you get the
fat away, you have nice shapely abs,
otherwise it won't help you with the extra
weight situation.
Another little tip, if you decide to do
some weight training/toning/other
anaerobic exercises, be sure not to have
had a huge dump load of simple
carbohydrates right before (or even a few
hours) the work out. When your body
experiences a sudden rush of sugar within
the blood stream, in an attempt to balance
blood sugar levels, insulin, a storage
hormone is released to remove the sugar
out and save it elsewhere. During this
period, you basically have no sugar
reserves at the ready, meaning you can
result in an energy crash and have a poor
work out.
To the poster right above me, I can't give
you a definite answer. The only cliche
answer I can give you to the stretch mark
problems is cocoa butter, but that is only
suppose to make the stretch mark blend in
better apparently. I think this is just a
case of a "wive's tale", no substantial
evidence of it actually working, just that
it's been passed on from person to person
for so long. This is just a hypothesis, no
research conducted, but I would assume
there is a correlation between speed of
weight loss and stretch mark, so contrary
to one's desire to get rid of the fat as
soon as possible, they would probably have
more visible stretch marks as a result.
So, try not to be in a big rush and lose
the fat at a steady pace for the skin to
catch up with the diminishing surface
area. Don't take my word for this though,
my "increase fat loss speed = more stretch
marks" hypothesis is only a plausibility.
Hope some of the things I have mentioned
was of any use.
