Pre-conception Question Suggestions?
Posted: 08-11-05 22:13pm

I am going to see my gyno on the 19th for my yearly and since my hubby and I are ttc. I am considered obese (just barely) by american medical standards and I was wondering what kind of questions should I ask my ob/gyn about ttc?

Will my wieght hinder our efforts?

Any help is appreciated...

Thanks!

I really don't know alot about this...But I don't think you should have any problems getting pregnant as long as your healthy.

I am fairly healthy besides bieng overweight. My bp is great, I have lowered my cholesterol and triglicerides, I quit smoking 7 months ago and I don't have diabetes... The only thing I am realy afraid of is that since I am already over weight getting pregnant I will gain more weight.... And I am afraid that may cause problems in and of itself

Yeah. The doctor will probably be able to advise you on that. Maybe your dr would put you on a strict diet and excersize program or something.

Well, I have 2 little ones myself and have foud that even if u go into pregnancy relatively thin u could wind up overweight when its all said and done (gained 70 lbs with 2nd preg, 50 with 1st). With that said, I would advise that u loose some weight before getting pregnant. It would be quite beneficial to u and ur baby. U would reduce your risks of devloping diabetes during ur pregnancy which is quite common for overweight women and reduce the risks for complications during labor and delivery. Also, u will not have difficulty after the baby to loose soo much weight because u would of already done half the work before u got pregers. Most importantly u will most likely concieve easily.... After u have lost some weight............Many women get pregnant while dieting or loosing weight..I know that always works for me..Once I hit a certain weight its a sure fire thing i'll get pregnant (lol). Whatever u decide I hope all goes well...Good luck
