Posted: 08-13-05 11:12am

Hi all ,
im a 17-year-old male and i've been masterbating since I split a lot.
These days I masterbate at least once a day. Will masterbating affect my health, growth, sexual future, bones, or anything at all??
What are the effects of masterbating?
Should I stop or at least masterbate less?

Plz help im really worried..

Will masterbating affect my health, growth, sexual future, bones, or anything at all?? - no
what are the effects of masterbating? - orgasm with ejaculation
should I stop or at least masterbate less? That is a personal discression...

Masterbation is not harmful nor is it going to hurt you in any way. It is a wonderful think knowing how to please your self. Now it can be a problem if you are involved with someone and you are more interested in your self than the other person, but other than that jerk off as much as you liike.

Posted from your post in the other topic:
bgivs: masturbation is a normal healthy activity. It does not cause any medical problems or have any serious long term effects or side effects. It should not hurt or cause any future problems. Masturbating can be done as frequently as you wish as long as it does not interfere with your life. It won't cause any health, growth, sexual, or bone problems as long as you don't over do it; and masturbating once a day is not overdoing it. The only reason that you want to cut back is if you noticed stress problems in your life caused by your masturbation; but you arn't masturbating nearly enough to have these problems.
As long as you dont have any of the problems below caused by "over masturbation," you have nothing to worry about. These problems are caused by masturbating 5 or more times a day. But it doesn't seem as though you should be having any of these problems seeing that you masturbate just once a day, just as I do and I have no problems. Let me know if you do and I can give you some additional advice. The symptoms of of over masturbation are:
-thinning hair / hair loss
-soft / weak erection
-premature ejaculation
-eye floaters or fuzzy vision
-groin / testicular pain
-pain or cramp in the pelvic cavity or/and tail bone
don't worry if you meet 2 or less of these symptoms, its most likely just a coincidince.
Don't worry about it, just enjoy it! Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions!

Keep in mind that during puberty masturbating too often will stunt your penis growth.

no! And I quote:
"masturbating is a completely healthy activity that causes no health problems. It will not stunt or slow down the growth of your penis!"

Hey you don't have to believe me if you don't want to... And stop reading unfounded articles on the internet.

Like everything in life, moderation is key. Likewise, there is a difference between masturbation and excessive masturbation. Just like any type of bodybuilding or exercise, if you do too much without allowing your body ample time to recover (especially in terms of your sexuality), it will be hindered in terms of growth and/or performance.

You have to understand there is a sharp spike in the decline of both dhea and testosterone after every orgasm, it can take anywhere from 12-hours to 48-hours for peak levels to be established. It's also no secret that testosterone is responsible for your body's maturing amongst other things. If you are constantly depleating your body's natural testosterone levels and hindering production, what do you think will happen to your body's development? This isn't a secret, and it's not a new concept. Also important why many athletes abstain from intercourse before big games (i.E. Olympics) to help keep their testosterone levels & performance up to par.

As I said, if you don't want to research it properly... It doesn't matter to me. You can do what you want to your body, it's your choice. Personally, I bodybuild and am heavily involved in health & nutrition, for me things are a bit different.

this is true. I've never heard about the rest of it though. Do you have an article or something on it somewhere you could link to?

All of the stuff those morons said about stunting your growth, thinning hair, etc., is caca. Pure crap. The only problem too much masturbation can have is that it may affect your social life. Don't worry about jerking off too much -- just do it and keep it personal and private, unless you're seeing someone. It feels good and is healthy to release that excess semen. It has no bad side effects. Trust me, i'm a doctor.

Not every person is the same and some will be hairier than others. You're also quite young so I wouldn't worry about it. In fact most of my friends (around 26) aren't very hairy, except me and one other. We're also the ones going bald. I can't remember which hairs came in first, but some don't happen early in puberty, such as chest hairs.

As for masturbation, it's perfectly normal and perfectly healthy. You don't want to overdo it, but it won't really cause problems. Semen does have minerals and nutrients that you will lose, but they are replaced. However, reducing their loss is good for sexual health. So if you want you can refrain from masturbating EVERY day and give a couple days break a week. No big deal really.

As for size, average is 5-6" erect. You're young and still growing so it's not bad if you haven't reached that yet. I've read a book "Scientifically Guaranteed Male Multiple Orgasms and Ultimate Sex," that has tips for enlarging the penis that are even better to use during puberty. However, I can't tell you whether they work, just thought I'd mention it and let you decide on your own. I think it involved ejaculating less (to keep those nutrients good for sexual health), but still masturbating often. The masturbating means your body releases those chemicals for erections, frequent blood flow in the penis, and causing DHT (a potent form of testosterone) to remain in your penis for longer times, building DHT receptors in your penis, enlarging it. There was also a recommendation of putting GLA oil on the penis. GLA is Omega 6 I believe and can be found in Borage Oil. However, to get the whole regimen you'd have to find the book. I think someone actually sells a similar regimen gotten from that book, online as an e-book.

I don't think you should worry about it, because of your age. Nothing wrong with being average. Women don't care and you can please them even when small. Work with what you've got as opposed to wishing you had something else.

Wait a Minute!
Posted: 03-13-07 22:49pm

I am 14 years old and I regretfully have been masturbating for the past two years of my life. Three months after I started I noticed some bumps form on my scrotum. I looked everywhere on the Internet and found out that my condition is exactly like HPV or genital warts. Almost every side effect of HPV matched my description. I don't know how you can say that masturbation is safe. I have not checked with the doctor yet but I am planning on it during my next physical. I have come in no contact with any other person sexually. This HPV is very annoying and depressing. My self-confidence has been pretty much shot and I have been very distant to many people in the past 2 years. I will come back and confirm that this is HPV after my physical. I repeat--I have come in no sexual contact with another person.
P.S. I confirm Justin Toronto's statement with my own life. In seventh grade it measured 6inches. Now it's 5 and im a freshman.
If anyone has any thoughts or questions you can email me at johnjj brown@yahoo.com

you cannot catch hpv from masturbating. what reason have you to think that the problem you have is caused by masturbation? that's like me getting a throat infection and saying 'jeez...! man, i really should never have eaten bananas.'

All the posts in this thread should be deleted...prozack and healthysex are the only two correct in here.

masturbating will not stunt your growth, nor will it cause such side effects. this information given is ridiculous.

also, zjpronger, you're only 13. you're at an age where you shouldn't even be worrying about these things. for an average male, we dont stop puberty til in the early 20s - 21 to be exact. masturbation is completely healthy. my cousin's wife is a nurse and he's a EMT...they both say there are no side effects. And yes, cd998776, herballove.com has clearly false statements.

Agreed. You do not have HPV from masturbating. Stop trying to self-diagnose and go to a doctor if you think you have a medical issue. Many boys your age have bumps on their scrotum. They're usually hair follicles.

Masturbation is not harmful in any way. I promise you that Justin is wrong. I can provide many articles contradicting him if you would like. Keep in mind that he gave you nothing to go by other than his word. If I tell you pigs can fly are going to believe it? Sadly, you just can't believe everything everyone tells you. There are many good things about masturbation. For males, it can even decrease your chances of getting prostate cancer later in life!
