Hello all,

my best freind which is wheelchair bound, recently casue by the wheelchair tumbling over her (lucky for the seat belt) as a result of the 6 inch drop she broke her femur. It didnt look that much cause I caught her an stoped it from tumbling on her.

Anyway... After 12hrs of cronic pain an regular drugs the might task of moving her from her wheelchair too a bed, then to another bed an removing the sling an sheets under her, I totaly admire her for her bravness.

Basically because her bones are brittal the initail process the doctors explain too us was too get xrays if its broken goto surgery. 6 weeks an all will be good then physio.

Now becuase her bone is so brittal or small (not sure what said).. They dont wanna do surgery... I cant remember the exact term they used.. But they wanna tie soemhtign too her leg with weights on the other end.. And appently she will be bed riddon for 6 weeks..

I havnt seen or read anything like this on the internet an just after some advice...

Like how long will healing take? An how long for pysio.. (sorry lol) ive been up ova 27hrs)

how can I help with the cronic pain. (like pass some advice on too here)

is the pully system best for her or is there other ways... Like shes very stricken in her movement with limited use.. An being on her back 24/7 cant be too good.. She has metal rods from top too botton of her spin to tail bone. ( a freakish site on her xrays)

shes a lovely person an deserves the best...

I thank you for your time....

Jonathon.

Ohh boy. Send my regards to her I know how much pain is involved in traction. I was in traction for over 24 hours and I was in excruciating pain. I can't imagine how lt would feel for 6 weeks.

But besides the point I don't know about brittle bones but I would suggest going to see a trauma orthopedic surgeon. As far as the pain. 2 750mg vicodins every 6 hours and ice on the femur for 20 mins on and 20 mins off (keep repeating).

I would definatley see a trauma specialist or atleast a second oppinion.
Preferably by a specialist that deals with such cases.

Good luck! And be very gentle when moving her, that really hurts the worst.

Thanks,

~steve~
