I just started taking seasonale on sunday.
I am not taking it for bc, but to help
with very heavy periods. If you do some
searching on the web, you will find that
it isn't a very popular pill. In fact,
my doctor was surprised when I asked about
it.
Most of the posts that I have read
commented that there was too much spotting
and btb with seasonale. My doctor said
that he doesn't get many request for it
because most of his patients aren't
comfortable with having only 4 periods per
year.
It has been 10 years since the last time I
was on bc. My hubby had a vasectomy;
therefore, it was unnecessary. Aside
from wondering if i'll suffer from too
much spotting and btb, my main concern is
the cost. I'm not sure how much of the
cost will be covered by my insurance since
I didn't pay for the pack that I just
started (sample from doc). I have done
some research and found that there are at
least 5 other pills that are supposedly
the same as seasonale, but they are
packaged for monthly use. Anyone of
those would be a cheaper alternative to
seasonale. I have been researching other
monophasic pills as well since any of
those can be used continuously to skip
periods.
Are you currently taking seasonale? If
so, how long have you been taking it?
Any side effects thus far?

Seasonale Posted: 12-02-05 20:51pm
I took seasonale for anout a year and a
half. It worked great, but in the last 6
months, I had a lot of breakthrough
bleeding. One great thing though, is
that I had very light periods, and
actually missed them for three cycles.
If you are not concerned about becoming
pregnant, or the stress of missed periods
for nine months, I would reccommend it as
long as your spotting is not too bad.
Also, I did not really gain weight and had
virtually no side effects (except that my
boobs grew)

Seasonale Is Bad Posted: 08-28-07 12:23pm
I went on Seasonale Nov. 2006 and expected
a few changes as my body got adjusted to
having 4 periods. I didn't expect a 21
day period for the first adjustment!! It
was heavy, then light, then heavy..I was
exhausted from pms symptoms that never
went away. My doctor assured me this would
end once I started the next 3 month pack.
When that one began, about halfway into
it, I started bleeding again before I was
supposed to actually start. That lasted
19 days! The doctor's office said it was
normal, but I didn't feel normal. I felt
horrible! They kept said it would change
the longer I took Seasonale but I didn't
believe it especially after the second 3
month pack was not faring any better than
the first. I switched to tricyclen after
I finished the second set of Seasonale. It
has been 3 months & my body is still
trying to readjust. My cycle is supposed
to be normal, but it's still a bit
erratic. Not to mention I believe it
affected the rest of my hormones making
them out of whack.
Before I went on Seasonale, I was like
clockwork! I'm waiting for the day to be
somewhat normal again!!
