I get nausea when I drink water. I only eat twice a day. My boyfriend is a nutrition freak and he is ripped caca with me. I cant help it. Im 18 and im 20wks pregnant. Please help me. We are very frustrated. I eat fruits but I dont eat veggies except for lettuce and tomato. Im also scared. I also come from a family where I grew up to believe I was trash. My boyfriend is very supportive. I went for a very light walk to the post office and I felt my heart racing. I was scared. When I got back I vomit everything I ate this morning. I am 110lbs 5'9. I've been taking my prenatal vitamins for 12wks. Im really confused. Any advice for apetite and more water intake. I tried ice but I get the same reaction. After vomiting I lay down and usually sleep 3hrs with nothing in my stomach. Then I eat a balanced dinner but not enough of quantity says my boy, around 6-7p. Then I go to bed like 930-10p and wake like at 10-11a thats 12hrs in fasting mode. Please help!!

Hi!
During my first 5months of pregnancy I was sick all the time, and could barely keep anything down. My doctors told me to try to eat smaller meals a day, and only have liquids 30 minutes after eating. For the most part it worked, though there is no way to totaly eliminate vomitting. So I would say eat 5 or 6 small meals a day with alot of nutrition.

Goodluck.

My 2nd pregnancy, I hardly ever ate for the first 5 months so my doctor told me to take milk, orange juice, ice and blend in a blender making an orange julious. They told me could use it as a small meal replacement and that it is filling. It was and was very good too. I got my appitite within a month.

Are your prenatals in the morning and are they making you sick? If so try taking them a niht riht before bed. See how that goes. Some of these prenatal vitamins are so strong that actually make you sick and reduce the appitite

that is so true!!! I never thought about that cause I took mine at night because I got upset tummies when I took them and a friend of mine suggested that.

Out of my 2 pregnancies that was the only cause and effect of my nausea. Those prenatal vitamins.

Oh sorry about my spelling. The gggggggg isn't working too well on the key board.

My doctor put me on two flinstones a day instead of prenatals becauase my nausea was so severe. Try sipping water, propel, gatorade or low sugar juices and milk instead of just having a glass here and there. Being liquid logged really makes me feel worse. Also eat bland things. Cereal is my best meal now and sandwiches are pretty good too. My doctor did tell me that the first trimester, don't stress about not eating a lot. The baby gets what it needs not from the amount of food you eat but the type and the vitamins. If you take your vitamins and eat an apple for dinner because that's all you can stomach, dont stress about it because the baby wouldn't know if you ate an apple and chips ya know. Eat less but eat more nutrients. Don't worry about not eating a lot, youre appetite will pick up in the 2nd trimester :) trust me!! Since my nausea is down now, I asked my doctor about changing to prenatals and she said there's really no need. I also looked in "what to expect when you're expecting" at what prenatals include and took that to the flinestones and compared and the numbers are suprisingly similar, so I don't see any need in it. If you're feeling ultra sick try to chew two flinestones instead (with food!!! And carbonation, it helps with the taste and getting it out of your teeth so you dont lose any, and the acid in the carbonation also helps it dissolve into your bloodstream faster). Hope some of that helped

I was always told to eat crackers if you can keep anything down. My doctor tok me off of the prenatles they had me on because it put two other people in the hospital. The prenatals we're causing them to vomit everything they ate. She told me I didn't need to take anything, but with my vitamin levels I might want to. I get the flintstones complete vitamins. Ask your doctor if you can switch to those.

I, too, was very nauseated for some time. I am almost six months pregnant- first time- and have found that taking the prenatal at night is what works best for me. I would recommend drinking flavored water and making a list throughout the day of what you eat. I am reading, "what to expect while expecting" and it's a really good resource. I am bad about eating vegetables- particularly leafy greens, as well. I do eat lots of fruit to make up for it though. I've noticed when I document what I eat, it makes me realize how poor my choices can be, therefore, it forces me to eat healthier. I drink more milk, oj, and water now than I ever have because of the list. It's ok to splurge every now and then, but I always think of my baby and try not to self indulge because I feel guilty for being selfish. It's the "empty calories" that effect a pregnant mother. As someone had posted it's not how much you eat, but rather what you eat- make it count and good luck! :d
