Violent Thoughts - Can Anyone Give Advise Or Relate?
Posted: 08-15-05 21:58pm

I am 16 years old and have been struggling with depression for about a month and a half now. My depression was kicked off by a panic attack I had on july 11.

I have fallen into the bad habit of bottling up my anger and trying to stay away from conflict - dealing with parents - and the like. Since it started i;ve been having a lot of violent and negotive thoughts. I dont sit there and fantisize over it, more like they just pop into my mind. Initially they really scared me, but I seem to be getting more of a handle on it.

Another symptom i've been having is a sort of hypersensitivity to whats going on around me. I find myself doing a lot of double takes. More often then not there is an excuse for what I double take at, but the state of mind has been causing me a lot of anxiety.

I am not a violent person, this crap is just really freakin me out. I somehow was able to pass my junior license test, but am too anxious to drive -

i appreciate any advise - thanks

yeah, same here. I have some very violent thoughts - the most common ones being punching people in the face or ripping there throats out.

The best thing I do is just do the thing im scared about at the time. That helps stop my anger. You know like that nike advertisement ...Just do it.

I think its a male hormone thing.

Distract Yourself

Hi --
know where you're coming from. That book I wrote about the naked bird watcher - the girl said to distract herself helped. So go and take yourself off to do something. Exercise, music paint or whatever you're into. And challenge those thoughts bud

Gday,
i get the same way I am a female 27 it is a symptom of my bipolar when the severe mania kicks in.No kidding I really think of the most wicked ways to hurt people that have ever hurt me.I hate feeling like that its awful.I once waited for someone to come over to my house for about 3 days I had a big thick glass bottle that I was going to bash them with that I kept close by the front door.I know for a fact that if she would have arrived in those days where I was having an episode I would have definatley bashed her with it very badly as she did do something terrible to me that I cannot ever forgive.I knew then I needed help as I was relapsing so they put me on epilim to control the mania.I feel for you its horrible having such wicked thoughts I know what you are going through.Just make sure you get some good help and advice.

I think you need a vent to let your anger and frustration flow away from you. Crying a lot can be a good idea as it relieves a person from all those thoughts to some extent. Can't advise anything more as i'm not an expert. :)

Lift weights or get on something for panic attacks.

I recommend trying cognitive-behavioral therapy, cbt, before medications. I associate your intrusive thoughts with obsessive-compulsive disorder, ocd.

I have the same problems at football practice when kids start attacking me. I dont mean like picking on me I mean like taking rocks and chucking them at my head. They also find it fun to take their helmets and thrusts them into my balls while im showering. What I find helps is to ask the coach if I could be excused from practice and running. Yeah it seems a little like forest gump but I just run I dont know were im heading some times I go to subway down the street and sometimes I go all the way home and back(about 5 miles). Its kindof like im sweeting away my angers and pain. But make sure u dont over do it b/c then u might get heat exaution or even heat stroke.

Hi, if you have a garden and when you have those violent thoughts:just go and make a hole and then tidy it and again and again and......If you have no garden then why not play Tennis(you can do that alone by training yourself at serving) and if you don't know where are the courts in your area then walk to find them.
You can also take pictures and stuff that make you concentrating on something.
Take care
