Sharp Pain Behind Left Eye Posted: 11-24-03 21:08pm
I experience a sharp pain behind my left
eye whenever I sneeze, cough, or bend
over. It started as a slight pain about a
month or two ago and has gotten
progressively worse. Any ideas?

More Details? Posted: 12-02-03 05:05am
What is your age?
How long this has been troubling you?
Do you suffer from recurrent colds?
Myopia?
On further such symptoms replies a proper
diagnosis and prescription can be arrived
at. Your symptoms do sound like that of
sinusitis and can be confirmed after more
details for which homoeopathy has a very
good remedy.

I was diagnosed with this after a catscan.
My doctor told me that my headaches were
a result to it. That it was kinda like a
"hole in my sinuses". I took steriods
for a short time, and it has improved
slightly but not by much!

Eye Pain Posted: 02-11-04 10:44am
I have the very same thing, except it's
usually in both eyes, and on very bad days
I get intense headaches in my eyes, or
behind my eyes. It's definitely a sinus
thing because i'm congested and I have
pressure around my nose. If I take a
shower and blow my nose, the headache
subsides so I know its a sinus thing.
These headaches are a daily thing for me.
It's been occuring for about 3 years now.
I've just been taking sudafed sinus
headache, but lately they've gotten worse.
Let me know if you find out more about
this eye situation. Hope you feel
better.

Could Be Trochleitis Posted: 02-23-04 02:01am
The pain in the eye could be trochleitis
which can lead to headaches and
migraines.
Trochleitis is inflammation of the
trochlea tendon in the eye socket.
Treatment of this inflammation can often
relieve migraine symptoms.
Also check the other post in this forum on
migraines - causes and natural
therapies.
I have had 'floaters' since I was a young
kid on my first jet flight. Last week,
20 years later, I noticed a large floater
that wasn't moving, and looked like a fly
without wings or legs. It's tail seemed
to be attached to something. Needless to
say, it kind of bugged me out, so I
thought maybe it was my imagination, and
tried to sleep. While in bed going to
sleep, I saw a white flash in the same eye
(l) followed by a red dot near the center
of my vision. Next day, woke up with a
big sleeper in my eye. Put it under a
microscope- looked like pieces of what I
saw, plus a few insect legs! Black
jointed legs with little thorns or spikes
on them! Next day went to my Dr., soon
saw an opthamologist afterwards, while
showing the picture I had drawn while
looking at the big 'bug', complete with
description of symtoms. My eye was
looked at, no abnormalities were spotted.
Now when I look towards light I can see
smaller versions of this critter. This
is worrying the hell outta me, have seen a
few smaller flashes/dots toward the side
since then. I'm worried that this is
some kind of botfly carried in by birds
nesting in my apartment complex's soffits
- and most of all, my retina will have to
be torn before any dr wants to do anything
about it. I'll be finding another 'eye
Dr.' soon for a 2nd opinion. I know
botflies live in warmer climates; ie
central/south america.. Not supposed to
be in nj. What the heck are these
things!!!!

Migraines Posted: 07-11-07 00:06am
Lately when I get migraines I get very
sick to the stomach... Every bright light
bothers me and then up chucking starts!
Now behind my
right eye I have that sharp pain..What can
I do about it? Advil, Aleve and all the
other stuff I can not take because I am
allergic to aspirin or anything with
NSAIDS so I am pretty much stuck with it.
Any one have any advice to help?
sandra
have you gone to your doctor for a med for
your head pain? There is a medicine called
migranall that you spray in your nose and
it is supposed to help relive the pain. A
friend of mine swears by it.but best to
see your doc if you have allergies or talk
to a pharmasist.

Layaholiday, are you talking about Central
Serous Retinopathy? I have had this and
yes, it can take a long time to go away
and it could well come back. They say
that it affects young men who have
high-stress occupations such as airline
pilot but I am female and in an academic
post so not at all the usual candidate!
It is not a dangerous condition but it is
annoying.
Gysull, as others have suggested, your
symptoms sound like a sinus problem but
you reallly need to have this checked, to
rule out inflammation of the optic nerve
which would not be a good thing to have!
