Unusual Cramping
Posted: 11-24-03 21:35pm

I was about 10 days into a pack of mircette pills. I've never taken this kind before, but I was on orthotricyclen for awhile. I stopped taking those about 5 months ago. Everything was fine for awhile; but then I didn't have a period for 2 months, went to a clinic and they gave me these mircette pills to take once my period started again. (they also gave me a pregnancy test which came out negative and they seemed fairly certain it was accurate based on my sexual history.) so my period started, it was very heavy (lots to make up for, I suppose Smile), and I started the pill pack the following sunday. But there I was, 10 days in, and having, really, some horrible cramping, like bent-over-moaning kind of cramping, and i'm not sure why. Is it just my body getting used to the pill? I've stopped taking them as sort of an experiment, but it's 2 days later and i'm still getting the cramping. It usually lasts about a minute and I have the cramps about once an hour, though sometimes it's more and sometimes it's less.

Also, i'm 25, i've had an abortion, and i'm not sexually active (for the last 4 months or so). Anyone have any ideas?

I'd say its just your body adjusting to the pills. And the reason you didn't have your period for 2 months was because your body was used to the pills you were taking and then when you got off them and started a new one that can cause very painful cramps. I went through the same thing for about a month and eventually it went away. I hope this was of some help to you.

Actually it is a help. I was reading through some of the postings here and I got a little worried (hopefully prematurely) and hypochondriacal (is that a word?). Anyway, thanks for responding. Smile
