Answer to Your Question Posted: 11-25-03 12:02pm
My best friend is going threw the same
situation. Since we're best friends and
spend alot of time together ,so I went on
a hot line and asked the same question.
For the fact that she's having sex with
men and assumes that just because she
doesnt have a out break that it cant be
transmitted. Well thats not true .
Your body goes threw a stage where you
wont have any out breaks but still be able
to trasmitt it. This I copied from a
good web site that has alot of answers for
your questions...
Can I spread genital herpes even when i'm
not having an outbreak?
Yes. The genital herpes virus can still
be spread through the skin although there
are no visible signs of an outbreak.
This is called asymptomatic viral
shedding. One study estimated that up to
70% of people may have gotten genital
herpes from an infected partner when no
signs or symptoms were present. And
since the symptoms are not always obvious,
nine out of ten people who have genital
herpes don't even know they're infected.
Heres the web site hope its helps you
understand your situation a little more.
Best wishes......

Herpes cannot be spread unless you have
open sores. It works the same
as the ways of contracting aids...
Someone I know see's his physician
regularly for this and this is exactly
what the Dr. Said!

Thanks guy for the info. I mean I am with
a guy right now that loves me to death and
we plan on being with eachother for a
really long time. He has it now. But
before all of this I always made sure that
I told every guy what I had before I slept
with them. I think its wrong if you don't
tell them. But I was just curious.
Luckily enough my boyfriend now didn't
freak out about it when I first told him
before we started dating and now we are a
very happy couple.

You can give your partner herpes whether
you have visible sores or not. It is
harder if you do not have a current break
out, but you still can, so be careful.
If you need assurance, look it up on the
internet.

I know that this is late, but I have to
fix my post. I was wrong. You cannot
infect someone with genital herpes unless
you have a current outbreak. But the
only problem with that is sometimes before
you have visible symptoms, you are
actually able to infect someone. At
least that is what I found out. Don't
know if it is right or not, but you
probably shouldn't take the chance anyway.
It really wouldn't be fair to infect
someone when you could avoid it.
