I Have 2 Questions
Posted: 08-18-05 18:48pm

First off, I just want to say that I am 5 weeks pregnant. It was unexpected, but I was going to start trying in the fall anyways. One of my problems is that I am constantly worrying that I will miscarry this baby. I want it so badly and I pray everyday I will deliver a healthy baby. I know there is a safe point of having a miscarriage. At what week is it? And is there a website that shows at what week you are most likely to miscarry?

Secondly, I need to tell my manager about this, but I hate her and I know she will jinx me and my baby if I do. Should I tell her now or wait until I am 3 months?

I Can't Help It1

I know I should stop worrying because I am worrying over something that I have no control over. I am trying to not think about my pregnancy, but I can't. I am so overjoyed and if it's taken away from me I will be devastated. I hope and pray this baby is healthy and I deliver her or him. For all of us anxious mom's I hope you all deliver happy healthy babies. May god be with you all.

As for telling my boss/manger, when should I tell her. Any suggestions?

First off don't worry. The risk of losing your baby is really if you or your doctor suspect you to be high risk. Have you seen a doctor as of yet. If so ttey would of done a series of blood work to detect the amount of pregesterone and hcg leels in your body. If you don't know what those are the first is the hormone that helps your body carry your prenancy to full term and the other is the hormone that shows there is a pregnancy in your body. Most octors will not not see you untill you are around 7-8 maybe nine weeks pregnant . The reason behind that is they want to be able to see the fetal heard beat on an ultasound. I think I covered your concerns if you need more help email me

The chance of having a miscarriage drops substantially every week till it gets to 1% at 12 weeks (i read this I a pregnancy book). I was worried about the same thing but just relax and enjoy being pregnant, if it happens it will happen and no one can do anything about it. You'll be fine.

Don't worry!! And don't try to not think about your pregnancy! You will be fine. Have you started prenatal vitamins yet?? If not, then get some asap. (good nutrition supplement for baby)

as far as your boss goes, I would wait atleast until 16 weeks. If you can't contain it, try 12 weeks (3mos). The only reason you should wait it because it's a pain when everyone knows your business at work. My job found out when I was 8 weeks. Ugh... It drove me crazy everyone knowing what was going on..

And as far as miscarraige goes sarah1978 is right. Week 12 is the the beginning of the safe zone.

I have had many miscarraiges, and once I passed the 12 weeks mark with this one, I thanked god! And worrying is normal right now. Just don't stress yourself out too much, and read about your baby. what to expect when you're expecting is a great book! You should get it and read up.

Make this pregnancy out to what it should be.... A happy blessing!

I Feel the Same Way...

I heard an even better statistic. I heard that once a strong heartbeat is heard (ususally btwn 160-175bpm) that the odds of miscarriage drop significantly. I would guess that the safest bet is the 12wk mark like all the books say but I asked the ultrasound tech about the other statistic and she said it is absolutely true. Even if you aren't at exactly 12wks, if there is a strong heartbeat the chance of miscarriage drops down to about 7% instead of the normal 20% that they say until the 12wks.

I hope this helps. Have you had a gestational ultrasound yet?

Also, you are not required to tell your boss at any specific time. I personally would have preferred to wait until 3 months but you can tell her at any time.

Think good thoughts and hang in there.

Don't worry about telling your boss until you are in your second trimester. That way, you have got over the scary bit and will also feel a little bit better in yourself too.

Good lucka dn I hope everything works out for you.
