Did anyone had any x-rays done while pregnant? At 6wks, I had chest pain and the dr recommended me getting a chest x-ray. I did wear a double layered lead apron on my abdomen to protect the baby.... But I am still worried it may have some effect on the baby... Does anyone know????

Ive never heard of any reason to have an xray while pregnant. I need to go to the chiropracter but can't yet because I can't have xray's done. But maybe chest pain was just more serious and they decided it couldnt wait. I don't exactly know all the side effects for the baby or how to know whether it affected it or not, sorry!

Hi,

a chest x-ray is a low dose diagnostic examination. The radiation dose from an average chest x-ray is equivalent to about 3days worth of natural radiation which we get in our every day lives from the sun, diet, industry etc. So considering that this examination was low dose, the primary radiation was not in the abdomen area and your abdomen was protected with lead from any scattered radiation, means that your baby is highly unlikely to have been affected by the radiation you received from the chest x-ray.

You have nothing to worry about. All the best with your pregnancy.

Me 2
I had a xray and ct scan at about 20 wks b/c they were worried that I may have had a blood clot but all was well I did wear a apron during my x ray they said it was safe I know how you feel I was so worried but now im 37 wks preg and everything so far has been ok don't try to worry to much. They would not have done a xray unless they thought it was nessary.
