:?:

i just stopped taking the pill the first week of july 2005 after being on it for 8 years. My husband and I did this because we heard from my ob that it could take several months until I can get pregnant and we were hoping to be pregnant by christmas or mid-winter. But- I just found out two days and two tests ago that I am about 4-5 weeks pregnant and it is only august 20th. I read that studies show that getting pregnant soon after stopping the pill has no increased chances of miscarrige or birth defects, in fact, they found that it slightly reduces these chances.
Has anyone else here gotten pregnant this quickly after stopping the pill? How did the pregnancy go or how is it going? I have yet to see my ob, she won't see me until my 8th week. What do you think?!?!

I have never been through this and I don't have much experience with it, but I just wanted to wish you luck! You should be just fine!

Thanks jlee,
i have been taking the vitamins and pleanty of folic acid for well over a month now. Having a hard time getting energy to get up and exercise. What kind of exercise should I do since it should be moderate? Walking, tredmill, stationary bike?

I actually have been slacking on the exercise and my body is really starting to feel it. I have been taking my vitamins but I have been pretty sick. Ive basically sat on the couch and the computer for the past 3 weeks.

I went to go get the mail today and walked up the big flight of stairs to my front door.... Wow, I was winded and my legs were aching... Its only a 3 minute walk! Lol

so I agree, exercise is definitely a good thing. I am going to start walking around my development and when I feel a little better, maybe jog some. Also, fresh air is great too!

Well, I just got back from being on the tredmill for only 16 minutes, walking normal pace. I was winded and my tummy felt a little crampy.
But it is ok now.
Is mild cramping normal? I am calling my ob tomorrow because I saw a little bit of light pink blood on the tp after urinating. Unfortuately, I had a bit of diareah then too so I can't tell what really happened. Anyone else experience these things? Anyone also have difficulty with making bm's like one week you can't go, the next week you always have to go? There seems to be no in between. Sorry so gross, I just want to know.

that sounds like the premise of gilligan's island !! You're lucky you got home at all !!!!!

I would've ditched the bike (and whoever dragged me out there in the first place) and called a cab.

As for the brith control question- I actually fell pregnant while taking the pill and i'd been on it for at least 6 years at the time. I know have a perfectly healthy 2/12 year old duaghter, who is also unbelieveably inteligent (biased? Never !!!)
i'm almost 30 weeks pregnat now, and got pregnant a month after giving up the pill. Baby seems perfect so far.
You should be fine. Apparently there is an increased chance of concieving twins just after stopping the pill, so you could even be twice as fine !!!!

Congratulations!

I took a blood test yesterday, my hcg was only 130. I test again tomorrow. But, I started to bleed again today, and now I have mild cramping. It looks like a strange but heavy period, so I am not going to get my hopes up at all, I am pretty positive that I lost my baby...I think I have cried all my tears, all day yesterday and most of today. I don't want to cry anymore...But I am sure I will for a while. My husband and I will have to wait 3 months to start trying for another baby. If I had only waited 4 more days to take my pregnancy tests, I would have just thought I was having my first period off my birthcontrol...A month late. Too late for if onlys. I guess I just have to keep myself busy. Luckly I start a new job in a couple weeks, that should keep my mind off of things.
