Does Anyone Have Psoriasis? How Do You Deal?
Posted: 08-21-05 01:03am

Http://www.Psoriasis.O rg/about/psoriasis/

i have red spots mostly all over my torso and around my knees. This is the first time I experienced anything like this. The doctor told me psoriasis is developed due to stress, genetics, and the immune system.. I have never met anyone with this problem before though!

Some of the red spots go away, however, they leave marks, similiar to when you pop a pimple. Does anyone have this as well? She said it's chronic and will stay with me for life. It's so weird that it developed so suddenly... If you have it, how did yours develop? I was under severe stress for the past two weeks, that may have triggered it. However, i'd like to talk to some of you who know about this to make sure it's not some other disease.....

Hi there,my son has severe psoriasis his body is covered with it,it all started when we had a car accident,it was the shock/stress of it all that was 8 years ago,the worse thing for him is the costent itching, his body is covered in big red sores, sometimes when his skin is dry these patches of skin go white and scaley, all this time he has applied special cream, but now we are going to ask our doc for light treatment, from what you descibe it sounds like psoriasis, but it doesnt have to be severe,a lot of people get a mild form, treatment asap is good.

What kind of treatment usually cures this, or at least makes it stop? I keep getting more and more of these little red bumps. Do they ever stop??? How can I make them stop appearing.... Stop stressing out?

Hi there, the cream my son uses is daivobet,it is good but you need to use it all the time,i think you need to get it through your doctor,im not to sure about that but I havent seen it on the shelf for sale, the other thing that helps is hemp cream,i got this from the body shop, its not a cure but it does ease it,and I believe that stress makes it worse I dont think my son will ever be free of this condition.

Just wanted to respond. I have had psorias since I was about 17. I am not 33. If you look up any information on it, you will see that it is an autoimmune disease that is not fatal but can be linked to possible other health problems like arthritis. Anyways, can be related to stress and definately genetics. Basically your skin cells develop way faster than a normal persons leaving no time for the dead cells to sluff off but rather stack up on top of one another. This is what causes the raising. The red comes from the extra circulation it takes for these cells to develop. There are different severities of the disease. Mine has always been in the middle to almost gone. It never really goes away, at least not for me. It goes into like a remission period. That can last for a long time, but for me certain areas will go away and then maybe come back. Other areas never have gone away. They might go from bad to decent or vice versa. Anyways, I have been to all sorts of doctors and tried all sorts of creams. Never steroid shots, I was advised against that. I basically never found anything that helped me, so I learned to live with it. The only area that is exposed to the public if I am not wearing jeans and a long sleeve are my hands. Right now, they both are effected, but I live with it and answer people when they ask if I have poison ivy. Ha ha! Well, at least I can live with it. My grandpa had it and my sister gets it so bad that she actually had to sleep with seran wrap and come crap the doctor gave her wrapped around her legs for months. So, sorry to hear that you have it, but way more people have it than you might think. Dont let it get you down!

Did you get it suddenly one time when you were extra stressed out? That's what happened to me. I have never had this before and my family has never had it. But a month ago when I was really stressed out they popped up all over my body.

I honestly dont remember. But I do know stress is a definate reason for it to flare up. I think that once you have it, it never goes away fully.. Just in remission and can pop back up at any time..

I just found out my 3yr old has it. It developed over night. We also thought it was an allergic reaction to antibiotic he was on but doc just informed its psoriasis. I'm worried cause its on his genitals he keeps complaining about it. We see dermatologist in 5 days, what can we do in the meantime?

I have had severe Psoriasis for the best part of 13 years... My Uncle has it & my sisters get a little in there hair when they are stressed out! I have it all over my body.... I have some light white marks on some parts of my body were the psorasis ahs been then gone, they are only light but i can see them... It is caused my stress & sometimes it can be in your body for a while before it comes out in your skin.. Eg Arthritis! Don't ever try chemo( methotrexate) i have just come off that & my whole body is out of wack go all nathuarl look at your diet.. Cut out dairy, Wheat, Red meat, this will help get on a natual liver cleansing tablet from health food shop. Fish oil tablets are great i take 6 a day....
I am a stressed person naturally which dosen't help the more you stress about it the worse it will get.. Mine got worse when my fiance was killed in a work accident. Know it runs my life... Go to a Nathurpath they will help you alot!!
Hope this helps some

I had psoarisis since I was 7, and currently i'm 15. No one knows how I got it but I have had alot of stress in my life, so that could have triggered it.. But anyway, How i treat it is sit out in the sun for a while no more than a hour or 2 every other day. I think this is the best way otherwise, take vitamin E pills every night after dinner because then it works while your sleeping.

I have psoarisis on my legs, knee, stomach, arms, back, and scalp. I just left my face last winter. but it was very humiliating, and lowered my self esteem like 100%.

But this is how i treat it. it's the best way i believe, hope i helped.
