Can You Kind Folks Help Me? Posted: 08-23-05 23:52pm
During the beginning of july my girlfriend
and I had a small pregnancy scare. We
had had sex with the use of a condom,
however, she missed her period by two
days, upon the third day her period
finally came but she had noticed it was a
bit lighter in flow and in color than
usual. After a few hours it had stopped
all together only to return the next day
still somewhat irregular. I began to
worry because I thought she had
implantation bleeding, which is a sign of
pregnancy. Her period ended several days
later and to make positive she wasn't
pregnant we used a hpt; the results came
back negative.
During the month of july we had sex again
with the use of a condom. We had always
used lubricant to reduce the risk of tears
but to be extra careful I purchased
condoms with spermicide. When it was time
for her period she said it came on time
and did not seem irregular. That was the
beginning of this month and now it's mid
august and my girlfriend is complaining of
nausea, headaches and sore breasts. Her
period isn't due for another 2 weeks! My
question is, is it possible for her to
have been pregnant back in july although
she had her period at the beginning of
this month and now she is feeling the
symptoms of a pregnancy? I'm a bit
skeptical, but clearly you folks know a
bit more about pregnancy than I do.
***remember, she had her period at the
beginning of this month and we haven't had
sex at all. Is it still possible for her
to be pregnant from our little scare in
july? I mean once you're pregnant you
period should not come, right?
Regardless of what happens i'll buy a hpt
just to double check. Sex is such a
wonderful thing but the responsiblities
and the risks that run with it are such a
drag. I'm thinking of asking my
girlfriend to go on the pill or to take a
vow of abstainance. Every month i'm
biting my nails and it's taking its toll
on me! Well, thanks ahead of time for
your opinions and advice.

update: well some of my details were a bit
.. Wrong. She had said, "i've been
really nauseous of late and my breasts
feel small." her breasts feel small, not
sore. And according to her i'm a
numbskull for thinking that she could be
pregnant even though she had her period
earlier this month. Well i'm pretty sure
she isn't pregnant. If her period doesn't
come early september then i'll have
something to be worried about but until
then.. No fun. :( goodbye!

While it's rare for a girl to have a
regular period while pregnant, it is a
possibility ... I wouldn't worry unless
more symptoms of pregnancy appear or
unless she does miss another period.
In the meantime, she should look into
birth control options ... There's more
than just the pill out there. A lot of
women I know (including both my mom and i)
hated the side effects of the pill so they
stopped taking it and within a month they
were pregnant ... We were using condoms
that month except for one or two times
when my fiance pulled out and we thought
we were being really careful but here I am
three months pregnant... Anyway, the
point is that there are a lot of options
for birth control - abstinence is the only
100% method but if your girlfriend goes to
her doctor or a planned parenthood clinic,
a professional would be willing to discuss
the many methods and figure out which
one's right for her. If you're not ready
to have a kid, it's best that you try to
eliminate any chance of it happening ...
Before you have to learn it the hard way
