I had a partial hysterectomy 10 weeks ago.
I still have my cervix and ovaries. I
have suddenly started having what looks
like old blood (brown) with tissue looking
junk. My doctors office says that this
is not normal and I need to be checked.
Has anyone else had this happen? I have
not had any pain or bleeding since before
surgery, so this is freaking me out. I
also have cramps as if my body is trying
to have a period. I will be seeing my
doctor today..Thank god!

Hi I had this and was pulling my hair out
trying to get doctors to listen to me
-that my periods were not normal. I had
awful pain with tissue and black/brown
blood.I had a laparoscopy and they found
endometriosis.But after treatment I still
had these weird periods-in end-im not
trying to scare you-but I had a
hysterectomy because I was always in pain
wth these horrid unusual periods-they then
found scar tissue(adhesions) that was
causing all this-i couldnt understand why
they could not see this before. Anyway I
am 110%better. My gynae said that any
surgury you have leaves scar
tissue-unfortunatly I had a bad
reaction.
I hope you get sorted.I knew in my own
mind my periods wernt normal-even though I
was told 100 times it was.You know your
own body than anyone else.
Good luck.

Post Surgery Problem Posted: 10-10-05 07:28am
I went back to my gyn because now i'm 4
months out from surgery and having
"periods", cramps and backaches just as
severe as before. After my surgery my
doctor told me that I did not have
endometriosis, everything was clean.
Then when I started with this problem he
told me my endo was back. I thought I
never had endo? I am seeking another
opinion because I no longer trust this Dr.
He told me i'm bleeding from my cervix
because there is a 3mm piece of endo
tissue and it probably won't go away.
All I wanted was to be out of pain, so I
could function, now i'm more of a mess
than when I started. Oh yea, i'm still
really sore across my abdomen and don't
know why.

It sounds like endo symptoms you have-it
dosent help when you are told different
things-as you will end up going round the
bend. I was first diagnosed with endo-i
had-liver like clots/brown/black blood at
the beginning and end of my period. Pain
was nearly everyday especially around
ovulation. Dull,dragging ache. Anyway
the second lap I had was to remove the
endo but guess what? There wasnt any and
they discharged me-i was mortified-as far
as I was concerned I was still living with
this problem.
After yrs of depression because noone
understood me I decided to have a
hysterectomy-full abdominal 3 wks ago and
they found adhesion on my ovary that was
heavily embedded to my bowel.
The question they cant answer me is why
did they not notice this before?
Have you tried hormonal treatment-as
demetriose worked for me but I could only
stay on it for 6 mths-i was totally pain
free. That way they knew for certain that
the pain was gynacological as they thought
I had irritible bowel??!!
There is hope besides surgery if you have
endo, they have lots of treatments if you
can tolerate them.
Wish you all the best of luck. People
dont understand what pain you are in
unless they have had it.
