I wouldn't think sciatica would come into affect that early on. But i've had it for 6 years and sometimes mine feels like that. Of course we're all different. I use a heating pad too, my doctor said it was okay to use but I read in "what to expect..." not to use it more than 15 mins at a time. I've fallen asleep on it several times, so i'm not sure. But yes, a heating pad is okay!
