Extreme Pressure Pain Behind Right Eye....can Anyone Help Posted: 08-26-05 13:59pm
Hi,
i have been having extreme pressure pain
behind my right eye. I am living on anti
inflammatory and pain killers. I have
just finished a course of anti biotics,
but still the pressure pain is there. An
ear,nose & throat specialist metnioned
something about rare sinus blockage, but
did nothing. Eye dr said my eyes were
fine. The pain is affecting my life and I
have become extremely sensitive to light,
which makes it worse. My eye when at it's
worst pushes forward that you can see it.
I am so scared of something serious that
drs have not picked up, it's been a year
now and getting wrose. Has anyone had
similar symptoms or any suggestions how to
help. Thank you

Could Be Graves Eye Disease Posted: 10-08-05 02:04am
You should go to an opthomologist, not an
optomotrist and insist on a cat scan. I
had the same problem as you are describing
and kept repeatedly being told it was eye
strain. I finally consulted an
opthomologist. Even though I couldn't
tell, the opthomologist measured my eyes
and found they were protruding a bit. He
ordered a cat scan and it showed enlarged
orbital muscles due to graves eye disease.
Very often, but not always, graves eye
disease is asociated with thyroid
problems, so you might ask for a simple
thyroid blood test as well. But the
definitive diagnosis is made via cat scan.
It might cost a bit but insist on it
anyway.
