Im am 20 years old, sexually active ( with only one partner ) and currently on birth control. I dont miss days on birth control, and have never spotted before. I am having vaginal cramping 2 1/2 weeks before I even start my period. Since the cramping began, I have had a consistant discharge almost the color of very light blood. Pinkish. So werid. Also, my lower back has been killing me. I lay down, and want to cry. The pain only last for a few minutes, but wow! Oh, also during sexual intercourse I feel vaginal pain at first. The cramps are the worst. If anyone knows anything about these symptoms please write me. Could I be pregnant? Miscarring? Cancer? Cysts? The possibilities are endless in my mind. Please offer your advice. Thanks

You are correct in that the possibilities are endless. Not to alarm you, but what you describe could be signs of a severe infection from a std, or other source. Many women and men can carry an std without even knowing it until it is too late. The problem with this is it can cause permanent damage, especially in women.

The signs could also be that you were pregnant, but miscarried. It is not uncommon for a woman to become pregnant and not know it, then miscarry, thinking it was just her period.

And, still yet, it could be a sign of cysts. Whatever it may be I would immediately be tested by the docotor for pregnancy, cysts, any possible infections, etc. Why put it off and continue hurting/worrying? You could just be causing further damage to yourself by delaying treatment. Go to the doctor now.

Thanks
The possiblities of me having an std are lesser because I have had only one sexual partner, not to say he has had only one though. He has been tested, and it was negative, but again this could be anything.

If you have a miscarraige isnt there severe bleeding? I have had only very very very light red, a pink. I feel really bad cramping tough, and then there is alot more discharge so confusing. Thank you for your advice.

Yes, miscarriage consists of pretty heavy bleeding and pretty big clots. It could be implantation bleeding, which I read only 1/3 of pregnant women ever experience but it does happen.

"implantation bleeding—bleeding that occurs approximately seven days after conception when the fertilized egg attaches itself to the uterine wall. Many women mistake this light amount of bleeding for a menstrual period—an error that can wreak havoc on their ability to calculate their due dates."

you being on birth control lowers the chances of it being pregnancy though and I would call your doctor with your concern. If its pregnancy or something very serious, a doctor check-up is going to be needed anyway. Good luck!

You are correct in that heavy bleeding and clotting would accompany a miscarriage. Pa is right in that your chances of it being a pregnancy are low if you have been faithfully taking the pill.

As far as a std, yes, your chances of that are lower due to having one partner. I think the latest statistic I read about stds is that 1 in 5 people have one and don't know it. So they said that if you have had unprotected sex with at least 3 people then most likely you have one. While you may not have been with many people, your bf might have been with other before you, who in turn may have been with others before him, and so on.

Cysts are still a possibility. Here are some possible signs of cysts:

ovarian cysts symptoms & signs

pelvic pain - constant, dull aching
pain with intercourse or pelvic pain during movement
pelvic pain shortly after beginning (onset) or ending (cessation) of menses
abnormal uterine bleeding (change from normal menstrual pattern)
lengthened menstrual cycle
shortened menstrual cycle
menstruation, absent
irregular menstruation
abdominal bloating or distention
note: often no symptoms are noted.

Another possibility is that your hormones have changed, and your current pill is no longer compatible with your body.

I would still go ahead and at least call your doctor, explain your symptoms, and see if he/she wants to see you. Better safe than sorry.

It Is So Annoeying
The constant "cramps and aching" are the worst. I get kinda bad cramps, then my pinkish dicharge increases for only that time. Its weird. It sounds like a cysts maybe. Maybe when I cramps worssen like that, one is popping? I am hoping it is not pregnancy. My breasts have been very sensitive this month though, actually more like pain. This is so confusing...

Thanks for everyones advice. It really helps. My mom died when I was 8, and my grandma died about 2 years ago, so I dont really have anyone to talk to. Again many thanks from my heart
