Multiple Ligament Damage Posted: 08-29-05 10:36am
Hello, I am a 35 year old female. I am
also diabetic since the age of 22. I have
had several different ligament ailments
that started even before my diabetis and I
have yet to find anything concrete. Any
doctors I visit now blame it on my
diabetes which I control quite well most
of the time. I was diagnosed at 22 with
corpal tunnel syndrome. Since I was 13 I
have had tmj and was recomended for
surgery, I have put this off. I have had
ligament reconstruction on both ankles in
my mid 20's. My doctor thought I played
a lot of sports which I had never done due
to my ankles twisting all the time. I
get very painful ligament nodules on my
fingers. And I am having some severe
nerve and muscle pain in my lower back,
hips, and legs. I am at my wits end.
Anyone have any ideas of where I might
look next? My neurologist left my state
not long after I started seeing him, he
was the first to take my symptoms as a
whole and not just unfortunate injuries.
He was searching for a link other than
diabetes. Thanks

I sent a private message, hope you're
still around to read it. For anyone else,
hypermobility and the hereditary disorders
connected with hypermobility is strongly
connected with joint, ligament, tendon,
etc problem. Just one idea. Certainly
not a diagnosis!!!!!

I, too, sent a private message teling her
exactly the same thing several weeks
ago.
At 44, (just a few weeks ago) I was
finally diagnosed with hypermobility
syndrome, with many of the same symptoms
and decades of pain. I suggest seeing a
rheumatologist and asking. There is also
a hypermobility website as a starting
point.
I wish her much luck and also hope she is
around to read these messages.
