Spotting And Cramping?
Posted: 08-31-05 11:30am

As I mentionned in a previous post I had sex on august 19 and 20th, which I beleived to be my most fertile days. Well today I began spotting brownish colored blood, but my period isn't due until september 10th (i have long cycles). Is this a sign of pregnancy?? I should also mention that I never spot brownish blood...It is also bright red. I know that implantation bleeding is normal, but isn't it only suppose to occur close to your period...Not 10 days before??

Also, since I am already spotting and having cramps, do you think a hpt would show anything yet??

Hello zanzu,
yes that sounds like implantation bleeding! It doesn't have to be near your af dates. I have read alot of post where women get it 10 or so days before their periods? Have u had any other syptoms!

I wouldn't say test would show up yet? But if u try the early predictor test that can detect 10 in hcg. These are for early pregnany!

I have had cramps for the last two weeks, but I don't start my period for another 3 days. I've been feeling nausea sense this morning. I got off my birth control on my last period. And yes I would love 2 be pregant, but am i? I'm so confused. The doctor says I have a slim chance of being pregnant, but who knows. Anyway, my last period was august 5th. I think if I did concieve it was around the 17th & 18th. You tell me what u think????

Hi serena,
yes it is normal to spot before your periods! As u had sex, it usually takes 5 - 7 days for the egg to be fertilised and to travel to the womb. At this time, it starts to attached itself to the womb causing implatation bleeding! This is usually 10 days or near around the time af is due!

Have u taken an pregnancy test yet? It may show up now! You may aswell do it now!

I took an hpt yesterday and it was positive...But now i'm a little worried because I think I may have been bleeding too much for it to be just implantation bleeding. I am going yo see my doctor on friday, so hopefully I will find out that everything is alright.

Any advice on how to tell my mother?? I am 21 years old, working and in a stable relationship, but I think she wanted me to wait until I was completely settled and married. What would be the best way to tell her?? She won't be mad or anything, but I want it to be happy news...Not dissapointing news. (of course I will wait until after my doctor's appoitment).

Hi zanzu,

well first of all congratulations.

No matter what happens, your mother is your mother and she will understand! Just tell her - i'm sure she will be as happy as u are.

After all mothers went through the same thing when they were our age! I'm not sure what u could do to make it a happy surprise but i'm sure it won't be dissapointing! And good luck with the doctor appt:. Let me know how u get on?
