Really Struggling, Can Someone Please Help! Posted: 09-04-05 07:57am
I have been struggling with medical issues
for many years now and 6 years ago I was
in severe pain in my back and after
surgery, I was left not being able to
walk. Through perseverance,
determination and fighting with our
medical system and three years of not
being able to walk, I went to another
province and had surgery and walked out on
my own accord a week later. My life
continued to improve and I was able to
return to work and begin to regain my life
I had previously lost.
However, 2 months ago something happened
with my neck and I am struggling with
severe left sided head and neck pain as
well as radiating pain, numbness and
tingling down both arms. Nothing is
helping and once again my family physician
who is new is not doing what she should.
I can't deal with this again. I don't
have the energy and or strength to go
through this again. All I see is a hugh
black hole and I won't go there again. I
struggle daily with suicide because
between the pain and the lack of support
it is very discouraging. I have the
support of other medical professionals who
are treating me, however they are not able
to request the test/procedures required,
which makes it that more frustrating.
I am so scared of having to deal with the
same issues I had to with my back. I
just can't go through that again and I
won't. I confided in a friend and I am
seeing a psychologist, however I live
alone and the nights are the hardest to
work through.
I don't know if I have the strength to go
though this. Does anyone have any
suggestions. I just feel so desperate
and I can't handle the pain as it has been
constant for 7 straight weeks and pain
meds are not helping.
I just don't know what to do.

Hey sweetheart, i've never been through
anything like that before. Maybe you
should try getting a dog or living with a
roommate so you're not so lonely. Im
always here if you want to talk at night.

Hey I have something that might answer you
question. Please let me commend you on
your determination. You had a tough road
but you came through ok and thats great.
I too had surgery three years ago nothing
to major( first rib reduction) any way I
started having the same problems that you
are having and after litterly crying and
complaining to my doctor for what seemed
like forever we finally had a cause.
It seems for alot of people that suffer
from some type of trama to there body like
surgery they develop this auto immune
disease that I have.. Its called
fibromyalgia. It isnt something that can
be cured as of yet but it is managable.
So please mention it to your doctor
because if left untreated it can get
pretty severe. If they diagnoise you know
they can get you into therapy for it or on
meds that can help slow down its
progress.

I'm so sorry the medical doctors are so
insensitive. All they do know how to do
is test and rule out what you don't have.
I pray you find some relief and answers.
I would check into an alternative type of
medicine. Being alone makes the pain seem
worse. People should reach out to help
others in need and you need a friend!

Stich, I have the same exact symptoms you
explained in your other post. Neck pain,
left side of head pain, and behind the
eye. It's been going for almost a week
now. I see you haven't replied lately.
Send me an email so we can discuss. I'd
like to know how you are doing now.
Maybe we can figure out what is going on.
I have an appointment to see my
nuerologist this afternoon. I said I had
migraines also. But I know there is
something wrong with my neck. I just
feel it is the source. Email me. Or at
