I currently have deep vein thrombosis and am taking coumadin(warfarin) blood thinner. My inr is in the theraputic range at 7mg. I'm not sure what "pe" is however.

Hi,
i had my first p.E (pulmonary embolism ) in 1989, a week after I had a caesarian. It had logged in my lung, so had to be surgical removed. Nearly died a few times. I didn't get any warning.

I got pregnant again 3 months after. When I was 5 months had a dvt, so was put on heparin injections. The hospital kept me in for the rest of the pregnancy. Had another caesarean so was put on warfarin for year.

Had another dvt in 92 while pregnant again. After that baby was born another caesarean warfarin again for 6 weeks. Everything was going fine.

Had another baby without any problems.Back on warfarin for 6 weeks.

Than in 1999 had another p.E, which went to my lung. This time they've decided i've got to go on it for a life. In the last 6 years I have had 2 more pe and another dvt.

My inr should be about 3.0, but they can never get my blood right. It goes up and down like a yoyo.

A couple of years ago they decided to find out why the blood keeps clotting. It's genetic.
So my daughters will have to be tested when they get older.

Hi,
when I had my first p.E, I don't think I had any symptoms. But because I had, just had a caesarean a week before. The pains I had felt in my back and legs could have been the start of it.As I remember I was sick on saturday and very tired.I just put it down on the operation and going home. The baby had only lived for 5 half hours. Sunday I was ok, still off my food. On monday I remember asking my husband to help me off the bed as my legs felt stiff. Than I collapsed. That's it until I woke up in intensive care the next day.
My dvt usually starts with my legs feeling very heavy, they feel quite hot, but not always go red, they start to swell. I think it feels a lot like cramp pains. It can be quite painful to touch. I have been known not to have any of the them symptoms, but just pain in my groin.
My p e symptoms are very much like the pains you have when you have pneumonia or a bad chest infection. As i've been rushed to hospital thinking I have p.E for it to turn out to be pneumonia or going in thinking it's another chest infection , when it turns out to be another p.E, but they can't be careful so I need to have the xrays done as soon as possible. I find it very hard to breath and my breathing gets very fast, also my pulse rate goes up. Also I feel quite dizzy.
But I know lots of people have different symptoms.
