My girl friend is 37 years old and just
past the two year mark from beating breast
cancer. The doctors have told her she
needs to get a complete hysterectomy very
soon. She has been genetically tested,
and has been told the gene she is
currently, carries a 85% risk of oviaran
cancer. I cannot convince her too get a
second opinion. She is torn between the
quality of life and the risk of cancer
either breast or uteran. She seems to be
focusing so much on the sex and what it
will be like for her and i. Too me this
isnt important, staying alive is. I
understand the whole quality of life
thing...But what to do??? Is it really
that bad???

Please have her get a second opinion. I
had just the opposite problem. I had one
Dr. Saying not to get a hysterectomy.
She even did all the tests on me that
indicated that I had problems! I was
bleeding so much my urologist wanted to
send me for a blood transfusion. The
second Dr. Urged me to have the
hysterectomy because otherwise I was going
to wind up dead from the loss of blood.
And it wasn't getting better. Each day
was getting worse. After the second Dr.
Showed me my records from the first Dr., I
couldn't believe that the first Dr.
Watched me over 2 years go downhill more
and more. I thought I was out of shape
and other symptoms were from being so
anemic from not having enough blood in my
system. If it wasn't for my urologist
urging me to get a second opinion I would
be in the hospital and having to get it
done anyway through the emergency room!
