My mother had endomitriosis about 18 years
ago and had a complete hystorectomy....Is
it hereditary? Will a d and c help
prevent it? I just had a failed ectopic
pregnancy and want to make sure I know
what to do from here.

Hi ctpeach...
My name is holli and I have endo. I am
23, and I work in the health field (i am
an xray tech and a nuclear medicine
tech)...And I just wanted to tell you that
endo is hereditary. My grandmother had
it, and one of my sister's have it. I
have researched it like crazy, so I know a
lot about it. It can affect your
ablility to have children, and no a
d&c will not cure you. The only real
cure for it unfortunately is a
hysterectomy.
I don't mean to scare you, but I just
wanted you to have some correct info.
Take care and feel free to email me if you
have any questions! I hope you do not
have endo, but if you do I will be here
for you!

Hi, I am 41 and in june this year I had
surgery to remove my left ovary and
fallopian tube because of a cyst that was
attached to my ovary, after the surgery
the surgeon said the cause of the cyst was
endometriosis, she said I have one of the
worst cases of endo she has ever seen and
it took her 3 hours of surgery to remove
some of it, now my point for telling you
this is that I have never had any symptoms
of endo, my periods have always been
regular and light and I have had 3
children without any problems (quite the
opposit in fact I get pregnant at the drop
of a hat). Since the surgery everything
has gone back to normal and the surgeon
said because of my age the endo shouldnt
come back, even though it never bothered
me anyway, she also said that when you get
pregnant this can sometimes clear up the
endo which is what she thinks happened in
my case but since my last pregnancy was 16
years ago it had time grow and cause a
cyst but this doesnt alwasy happen. By
the way my mother , grandmother 9 aunts
and my 23 year old daughter have never to
our knowledge suffered from endo so it
isnt necessarily hereditary, my 22 year
old neice who does have it also gave birth
to her first child this year, I hope this
helps put your mind at rest a bit

Hi I am 37 yrs old, never had children and
just started having severe menstrual
cramps about 4 years ago. I've never had
bad cramps in prior years and wonder if
this means that I have Endo..? The cramps
are pretty extreme but occur usually only
2nd or 3rd menstruation. It's not every
month. I don't think I have any other
symptoms. My husband and I are just now
trying to get pregnant. Is there any
other explanation for a women's
menstruation experience to shift in their
mid 30's? Now I am a little freaked out
but I don't even know if I have it...
