Headaches When Im Sleeping Posted: 09-10-05 07:34am
Hi, im 16 years old and I get these wierd
headaches.. When im laying down I get
headaches but when I sit back up im fine..
I remember I had this kind of a headache
before but it went away but now I just
recently started having it again. It's
wierd.. If I turn and lay on the right
side of my head, I start get a headache on
that side and when I turn to lay on the
left side I get pain on that side, same if
I lay on my back as well. I went to the
docter about this and he said it's
probably just the weather or maby its
allergies or sinus problems, so he gave me
benydril. Has anyone ever had this type
of headache?
I'm pretty paranoid when it comes to
headaches now because I always start to
search it up and it leads to stuff like
brain tumors and menijits and stuff..

Low or high spinal fluid doesn't lead to
meningitis, but it's still not a good
thing. If it goes untreated for years,
someone with it may have trouble thinking,
remembering words, and so on.
A doctor can check this out with a spinal
tap or mri. It can be controlled with
medication or, if the pressure is too
high, a shunt that drains the extra fluid.
It sounds a little scary, but it's
actually relatively mild and treatable.
Sorry it's taken me so long to respond...
I haven't been around for a while.

Please get an mr scan done to rule out a
cyst in the brain which blocks the csf
pathways

Thank you for the responses.. Well so
far everything been okay.. But recently
it returned again.. So I went about 4
maby 5 weeks withought any problem..
And before those 4 5 weeks I went to the
docter and he still said the same thing..
And plus I was getting checked for add
so yea.. Can you give me more info on
that cyst? I might just print this all
out and show my dad because im tired of
being worried.
Once again the headaches are weird there
not unbearable.. But kind of annoying
and it bothers me to the point where I
start getting kinda depressed.. I
wouldn't say it makes me naseated because
I can still eat fine but last night I
layed there for a few seconds okay..
Then slowly I can start feeling a slight
pressure headache on the back of my head..
I try to lay on my sides which help a
lil and the pressure headache starts to
slowly get on the side of head where I lay
down.. Now if I lay there long enough
maby 30 min the headache goes away,
sometimes ill feel a faint one coming back
but not enough to bother me and keep me
awake.. When I wake up I feel I fine
and I eat breakfast and go on to school
but in a few hours I start getting slight
headaches on the side of my head, I think
there called temple lobs? Later on my
headaches just go away or there is still a
slight faint one..
I know I should be going to some special
docter for all this but I just don't wanna
put my parents through all this trouble
and hearing all the mr scan and spinal tap
sounds expensive

Oh and also during those 4 5 weeks
withought any headaches or problems, I was
playing basketball and practice had a lot
of running.. After practice I would kind
of get a throbbing headache which I
thought was normal since my friend also
gets them sometimes.. Anyways what i'm
trying to say is maby all that running
helped it out? I'm not sure but once I
got cut from the team which was 2 days ago
I started getting the wierd headaches
again

Headache Sleeping On Back Posted: 12-11-05 08:22am
James, are you still having the same
headaches? Have you learned anything more
about the cause or solution?
I started having the symptoms on nov 20th
2005. I have the same problem where I can
go to sleep on my side. However, when I
turn on my back, I start feeling some
pressure in back of head and "drainage"
sensation in front of head. Then nausea
(and sometimes chills) follow. If I turn
to my side, the nausea, chills and
headache begin to subside.
During the day, I just feel a little
depressed, especially as nighttime
approaches. At work, I sit in same
position all day as a programmer and am
starting to have trouble concentrating
toward end of day.
Doctors have tried midrin which did almost
no good. And amitriptylin which manages
to keep headache away (mostly) during the
day but has side effect of fatigue. I'm
seeing a headache neurologist specialist
tomorrow so hopefully will be able to find
out more.

Yes, I still have the headaches and I
havn't learned anything new on it.. I
don't know whats wrong and im really
getting sick of it.. Your symptoms seem
pretty similar to mine but I still get
those pressure headaches even on my sides
but it does help a little to lay on my
side and if lay on my side long
enough(maby 10 min withought moving) the
pain will go away.. On some days I also
feel a lil depressed.. I mean not enough
to mess up my whole day but I can still
talk and stuff to my friends.. Its just a
slight wierd feeling and the headaches I
have during the day are very light but
bother me to where it makes me a lil
depresed..
And for your naseated symptoms.. I had
that symptoms 3 months ago when I had
these same headaches but they just went
away and now im just having those pressure
headaches when I lay down
if you find some new information from your
docter please post it here and thank you
for posting, im glad someone else besides
me knows what im going though
