pain between shoulder blades
Posted: 09-10-05 13:53pm

:( these few couple of months,i get this pain in between my shoulder blades, that runs up the back of my neck, into my jaw,it only stays for about 20-60 seconds, then goes away. And I only get it when im sitting down. This only happens once or twice a month, and I get no chest pains,my heart does race, only because I suffer from panic attacks.Any ideas on what it could be...

I'm so terribly sorry to here about your pain. I too live with it constantly so I can identify with the anxiety that almost always comes along with it..First and foremost get to your doctor let him/her do some prelim tests to determine any kind of musculoskelital or cardio problems..Ie; circulation etc. He then, because of your uncommon symptoms can refer you to a specialist for a stress test to futher evaluate your cardiopulminary performance. I'm guessing you perform a sedentary form of labor that requires alot of sitting and/or possibly reading. This could be transitory or referred pain brougt about by eye strain or repetitive motion with respect to the hands and lower arms. This in turn can cause a spasm in the cervical area of the spine and cause intermittent pain. These are questions that only a qualified proffesional can diagnose within a controlled environment.. The doctor is going to want to know some background issues such as the standard family history, allergies, past or recent trauma, and any lifestyle or work related changes, etc...Also your current state of physical conditioning will come into play..Your weight, blood pressure, diet, home and work environment, and of course age come into account. The human body is and extremely resilient vessel with redundant systems to cover the redundant sytems. My guess is you have some sort of nuerological problem in the cervical area stemming from some sort of injury that is aggravated by the constant stresses of your work environment and amplified by the fear and confusion the anxiety brings. Do not just accept my word though. Seek medical help and isolate the problem before it,god forbid, winds up debilitating you.

Hope this helps,
all my best,
rick

So you are not going to go now only if it happens again? Posture is a real important part in helping with back problems. I hope your plan helps. Take care of your self and good luck. :d
