Depression Meds=no Sex Drive?? Posted: 09-12-05 22:09pm
I have been taking depression and anxiety
medicines for about 2yrs now(ever since I
got pregnant). They are such a life saver
for me and control my moods and lack there
of. But I am concerned that they are
causing a chemical/ hormonal imbalance. I
have completely loss all sexual drive, and
my fiance has had just about enough. Any
suggestions on any over the counter herbal
remedies.

Low Sex Drive Posted: 10-15-05 21:32pm
I to had that same problem with meds that
I was taking for depression. It took
alittle bit of time but I finally found
one that has no sexual side affects, it is
called remeron. It works great and there
are no issues with itamacy. Trust me I
know..... So talk to you doctor about it
and give it a try and if you do I am sure
you will be back to your normal sexual
self in no time

Going Herbal? Posted: 10-16-05 01:09am
Yeah, I don't think it's a very bright
idea to use herbs with anti-depressants.
But you should probably talk to your
doctor, maybe he/she can switch your meds
to something that will work equally as
well but boost your libido. Be brave (i
know how hard it can be to switch meds
after taking one that actually works for
you!) and good luck!

Natural Vs. Man Made Posted: 11-02-05 23:06pm
I was given lexapro to help with
depression. I decided to use something
natural. My chiropracter,who uses
kinesiology testing, gave me something to
boost the serotonin in my brain. This
kinesiology works! I don't know how but
he has helped me with fatigue, joint
pain, and stomach problems in the past.
I'll let you know if this helps me out of
this depression.

Wellbutrin. I've heard it can even
increase your sex drive!

I have to say I think it's a bad cal lto
start messing with herbal substances that
play wit hserotonin, especially when she's
already taking an ssri (selective
serotonin reuptake inhibitor)...In
response to you question, the decreased
sex drive is a side effect of the
increased serotonin, should subside in
<3 months...

That's only with the ssri's and some
others. Talk to your doc. About this and
see if you can switch. Ther's pleanty out
there. Maybe a tetracyclic or tricyclic.
As far as I know, they don't affect you
sexually.
