I know someone who is addicted to those
stuffed neck and shoulder
warmers that you heat up in the microware.
She has one on all the time
and this has been going on for many
months, possibly a couple of years.
The problem is that it is obviously
seriously damaging her skin. In
fact, it looks somewhat like 2nd-degree
burns but i'm no expert. The
skin is quite red and nasty looking.
Seriously, it's disgusting. There
are even patches of gross-looking dead
skin.
I think she's even beginning to lose
sensation in the area because it
looks like it should be horribly
uncomfortable and she says she can't
feel any pain. In addition, she has to
warm these things up much longer
than she used to to get the same sensation
of warmth.
We keep telling her to stop using the darn
things but she refuses. What
sort of long-term damage could be done if
she continues to slowly cook
her neck and shoulders like this?
