Q: Sleeping Positions:

Hello,

i'm 14 weeks. And I am a stomach sleeper, which I know will not last long. Anyhow, I have read that sleeping on your left side allows more blood flow and oxygen to the fetus. But, i've noticed that when i'm not sleeping on my stomach i'm sleeping on my right side.

Do you think this will have a serious effect on the baby?

I don't think u should worry, I read about the sleeping positiions too, and I think its just a guideline, i've been trying to sleep on my left side (i'm 13 3), and I manage it most nights, but lately i've been finding it more comfortable to sleep on my back, which they say isn't good. I think it shouldn't make a difference.
My sister in law with her first baby, had such a smooth pregnancy that she managed to sleep on her stomach (or as close to be sleeping her stomach as was possible) even on the night before giving birth!!!, and her baby was absolutely fine!!

Hope this helps
xxxx

Good Luck
No that is the way I sleep to. My baby is on my right side and so that is the side that is most confertable to me also. The only thing is dont sleep on your back you can up till you are 5months pregnant. But be carful I know what do dr expect us to do wake up every second and see how were sleeping. Trust me you need to sleep however is confertable to you right now bc pretty soon if your like me you wont be getting that much sleep. I am 36 weeks pregnant so you still have a ways to go. Good luck

try getting a seat pillow its a pillow that has arms. That is what I have been using.

Thanks!
Thanks for the quick response. I didn't think it would have that much effect on the fetus, but was questioning it and thought I would get lucky with a few responses.

So thank you for responding. I feel more comfortable now and will get as much rest as I can, in any position most comfortable.

Thanks, guys!

Yes "they" say to sleep on your left side for better blood flow becasue there are certain nerves on your right side and back that can get f-ed up if you sleep that way. I slept on both sides though. But if ever you don't feel a lot of movement or something once you are further along, the docs/nurses will tell you to drink something cold and then lay on your left side.

Sleeping On Your Side
I've noticed that the hip area gets really sore after sleeping your side. Is this because of the nerves in that area or is it because your hips hare taking all the weight and it's not properly distributed.

Anytime I get sore anywhere now its just from my body stretching. I dont think its a serious problem or anything like that. Its just more weight on that one side thats ur bodys trying to hold.
