sorry haven't been around for a while. I
had my appendix surgery and I am finally
on the road to recovery. My incisions are
healing and my lupus seems to be staying
at bay for now. I did have to have i.V.
Steroids for a bad case of hives but they
are mostly gone now.
I am totally bummed out. I went away last
weekend to take a break and when I came
home and went back to work on tuesday my
boss informed me that I am being laid off
on the 22nd of december. She is claiming
that I am unreliable because of my health.
She is scared of the fact that I have
lupus. In the last year and a half that I
have worked for her I have not taken a
vacation and I only took time off for my
grandmothers death and for my surgery,
both of which had nothing to do with
lupus. I know that she is not allowed to
discriminate against me but I don't have
the energy to fight her plus I don't want
to work with her anymore knowing how she
feels.
I'm just really bummed out right now.
This is not the first time this has
happened. I got passed over for a
promotion at my last job and was forced to
train the person they did hire.
It really hurts. If it was something I
could change like bad filing skills, or a
personality flaw I would. I don't know
how many more times I can take this.
Sorry about complaining but you guys
always seem to understand.
Happy holidays,
jenn

Hi jenn,
hang in there. Are you able to collect
unemployment in canada? I live in
pennsylvania and when you are laid off you
can collect unemployment checks and get
new training for a new type of job. Is
that a possiblity there? Is there some
other kind of job you would rather do? Is
there another way to use your skills.
Look for a job that may accomadate your
needs a little more better. There could
be a lot of different options for you.
Don't let your old boss get you
down...Rise above her! When your pushed
out the door you have the whole world to
choose from! Take a break if you can
afford it!
I chose to leave a job that I loved
because my boss didn't have the heart to
let me go, so I had to make the better
business decision. I now work with a
very flexible schedule to meet my needs as
a mother, wife, and a lupie. I make less
money and that has taken me a very long
time to get use to (i'm still working on
it). I have been able to do yard work,
gardening, canning, cooking at home, keep
up with cleaning and laundry. I've also
had time to read, do stain glass windows,
and breed love birds finches, and now i'm
going to try parakeets (well I let it up
to them to breed I just get to watch...Ha
ha). I make bird toys and sell them to
stores, and I make beaded bracelets and
earrings to sell. I even found some time
to start a support group for people with
chronic illnesses that is christian based.
Today I took a walk....Brrr....A short
one lol. I shared this with you in hopes
that you would realize that you have many
options. Let me know how you are doing!
Good luck. Daisy

Hi jenn, I don't know about canada, but in
florida a few years ago ,i had a co-worker
who was a diabetic. Our boss threatened
to fire her because she was taking off for
doctors app. And stuff like that. She
told him to go for it.... She would sue
,because you could not fire\lay off
someone for medical reasons as long as
when they were there they did their job .
I'd check on that if I was you.
Here in america we have something called
the american with disabilities act. If
there is such a program in canada I
suggest you look into it.
You should also hire a lawyer. You may
be tired now, tired of working, of
fighting and of working but believe me, if
you do not nip this in the bud then other
employers will walk all over you.
You have a debilitating disease. You are
disabled. You have rights.
