Q: Questions About Adult Genu Valgum

I am 31 yrs old (female) and have just recently been diagnosed with adult genu valgum or "knock knees". The doctor told me it is a condition where the bones in my leg are not aligned properly and I need to see an orthopedic specialist. However, thanks to my really crappy hmo, it will be at least 2 month before I can get an appointment to see a specialist. I was wondering if anyone can offer any suggestions on controlling the pain until then? I wear knee braces which do help some, but not completely. Pain meds do not help. Would calcium supplements be helpful? Also, I have an aunt who died from bone cancer and I am wondeirng if this could be an early warning sign? Thanks for any advice.

I realize that, but it wouldn't let me change it. Sorry.
