Feeding Habits For a 6 Week Old Posted: 09-17-05 11:18am
Ok, we have a 6 week old boy and wonder
about his feeding. We tried to put him on
a schedule to feed him every 3 hours.
But it seems that less than 2 hours later
he gets so hungry again, that he screems
and cries for the next bottle. That
crying last for the next hour until we
feed him again.
Shall we just put him on a 2 hour schedule
again?
P.S. Maybe we also should mention that
during the day he wants to stay awake most
of the time and takes several cat naps
lasting anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes.
But during the night he can sleep from 11
pm to 9 am with only one feeding around 3
or 4 am.
Is he maybe building up a reserve for his
night time hours?

Yikes I am a frist time mom, my baby girl
is on her way.
But from what you said it seems like he's
doin pretty good. I mean if he's more
active during the day and naps every so
often not to mention sleeps through the
night then he's probably just more hungry
during the day like most of us. But again
I have not yet gone through any of this
for my word doesn't have to count for
much.

That's a pretty good "schedule" for a 6
week old. Don;t really try to schedule
the baby. Feed him when he's hungry.
Especially at 6 weeks.
