Why All of a Sudden?
Posted: 09-18-05 08:23am

I've been on birth control for almost a year now...I never had any of the listed side effects. All of a sudden for the past two months, i've noticed taht my stomach has been bloated, until I go to the bathroom and I ind that I feel like I have to pee alot but when I go there is only a drop or so. I went to my doctor to ask about the increased urinationa dn she did tests and said that it was just a bladdder spazm (that was last month) and that it would go away in 2-3 days. It went away but now its started again. Also (i dont know how to say it nicer im constipated)...Its just harder to. Could this mean im pregnant? I always take the pill and my bf and I always use a condom . We are safe about it. The wierd thing is....When I took the sugar pills last month (this is the beginning of a new pack) the bloating and the frequent urination went away. I got my period liek I have every other month, but it was wierd b/c as soon as I took the sugar pills everything went away, bu tnow I started the new pack their back again. Could I be pregnant?-but I dont see how since we are very safe. Or could it be that I need to lower the level in the pill or sumthing?- if so why is it all happening now?? Please help me!

It is always possible to be pregnant. But it also could be a reaction to the build up of the hormones maybe. I really dont know. Maybe go and get a hpt and see.

Sounds like systitus symptoms (not sure how thats spelt) I suffer from it a lot its like a bladder infection like your dr says, you jus feel like you really need to pee but not much happens? Sometimes you could pass blood too but the cure to that is water, lots of it, to flush the infection through. But yea its better to just check anyway

Because you mentioned that the bladder symptoms returned once you went back onto the active pills, i'd say it' a reaction to the bc horomones. Talk to your doctor about this, and ask for a different kind of pill perhaps.

Thank you both so much...It does make sense that it could be a result from taking the pill since it seems to come up whenever im taking the active. Yes, it is like I have to pee alot but not much happens. I drank alot of water and it seemed to go away so that also seems like a possiblity. I have also been training fairly hard for my upcoming soccer season so I think I may have pulled a muscle in my stomache from all of the 450 crunches and sit ups a day. I think that the pulled muscle and the increased peeing made me freak out. I think that I will be okay though because I know that I always make sure that im extra safe when it comes to sex. Thanks again for taking the time

Bc can slow down your digestion, causes the bloating. Eat bran. That's what my Dr. Said....

Yes, that is true. Bc can slow down your digestion. I'm off of it now and it's taking awhile to get back to a flat stomach once again. Becareful coming off of bc, it throws your hormones into a psychotic state! So just warn those significant others about major mood issues for a few weeks!

You can take fiber supletments and cranberry pills...Those will help will the balder and bowel....Also looking into taking prenatel vitiams...My dr said all women of child bearing age need to take them so that just in case they do get preg. There body will be ready for it and it will cut down on birth defects. Also since your having so much trouble with your bc try getting on a new one...They have low hormone bc. That may be best for you. And since you use the bcp and condoms it's doubtful your preg. And worrying about it is just going to make your symtoms worse.
