Q: Is She Pregnant????

I have a girlfriend that usually has her period on the first of the month. Its now the 19th and she still hadnt had it. I got what I thought was good news this morning. Im only 18 and we dfinatly dont want to have a baby right now. But like I said, she called me at about 9am today saying that she ahd started her period. I was overjoyed. But then later that day she said she thinks it might just be spotting. When would we be able to tell if its her actual period or just spotting? Does anyone have any input or knowledge about this, im extremely concerned and any help is much appreciated. Again, thank you in advance.

hi there,

well, a missed period could mean many things. Either she is prego (common idea), stressed out, change in lifestyle, facing changes, hormone upset and etc...

Well spotting is seen as few drops or brownish blood, it may vary from few drops to 1/5 of the pad being used. On day 1, could be few drops and day 2 nothing and then again in day 3, few drops or maybe slightly more, and then day 4, few drops........... Could be anything but normal period.
The colour of the blood could vary from darkish brown to maroon and to light pinkish.

Firstly is it ur friend or u.... Quite confused at the way it is written.

Is ur friend trying for prego or is having active unprotected sex... Is there a need or fear to find out if she is pregnant? If there is a chance, then simply do a prego test.

But there is no need to do a prego test bexoz of no sex or unprotected sex, then it could be stress, maybe some medicine that she is taking that is upsetting her period, changes in lifestyle or hormone being upset.

Figure out one-by-one and u can find out what the problem is.

she could be pregnant and having an early miscarriage. Or she could just be stressing over the whole thing causing her body to be out of wack. I understand accidents happen, but if you aren't ready for a baby (and no one is at 18) then you should really try to be more careful. Use more than one type of protection if nessicary.

It is my girlfriend, and im just being a worried boyfriend. We use condoms, and depending on what happens with this, shes definatly going on birth control asap. We definatly dont want her to be pregnant right now. Were both very scared that she is. She went from never having a boyfriend in her life to having one for 4 months, never having regular sex to regular sex and her mom is moving away, her sister just moved out and her other brother and sister just moved in causig alot of change at home. Do you guys think this could cause it? Also when she started what we hope is her period yesterday, she said it was light, not the usual amount that she has on the first day. Is this uncommon or is there anything we should look for that would indicate spotting (i.E. Time period, color) thanks again guys

believe it or not women who live together will often time have there periods at the same time. This might be something to ask about. If anyone else in the household is having periods at a different time her body might be trying to sync up with there's.

Sometimes the start of a period could be light, brownish and then the next few days the cycle is normal..

Spotting would indicate, few drops of dark brownish blood spots, which is like 1/10 of the pad being used.
