Pain In Lower Left Throat Help Me Please!!!! Posted: 09-21-05 12:32pm
I have been getting pain in the left side
of the throat between the vocal chords and
collar bone.It seems to travel up intomy
mouth onthe left side with pain
insometimes in ear and neck especially if
I turn to look at something and accasional
cliking in the cartlige. Ive seen an oral
surgeon, e n t specialist. And they see
nothing only a little mucus on the
leftside he said its nothing to worry
about . But this is driving me mad.Has
anone got any ideas please help :cry:

just read your post and I am suffering
exactly the same as you with saliva gland
problems,your description is just like
me.
I am near portsmouth!
Have you been checked out at qa yet ?
What was it ?

Hi there yes I had my glands scaned under
the chin and they said they were fine and
normal. They say that im suffering from
tmj. But not convinced!!!!
Its very fustrating with the sore throat
on one side and the mouth pain ie
especailly in the side of the tongue but I
no how rough I feel and they sre just
putting it down to this tmj.
Have u had any luck with a diagnosis if u
have let no what u have had done

Hi again!
Im having a scan tommorow and I am
terrified .
Funny you say about tmj because 3 years
ago I was diagnosed with this by my
dentist, I grind my teeth in the night so
dont think it helps.
I dont think tmj can make you saliva
glands swell so feel something must be
doing it.
I cant believe your symptoms are exactly
like mine all down my left hand side.
I have pain in my tounge and down my neck
and sometimes my ear is effected. I have
had dizzy spells for 3 years now and like
you I am just fed up with it all.

the scan is painless and u dont even no u
have it done I had mine done at qa
hospital and they were really good, I
asked the lady who did the scan and she
said it was fine but I had to go back to
the oral surgeon for them to confirm this.
Are u having the glands done under yr
chin if u are make sure they do both just
to make a comparison.
Best of luck please let me know the
outcome as this is getting really silly
and quite painful at times and as u said I
cant beleive there is some else with the
same symptoms I thought I was the only
one.

because I hate not knowing whats going on,
my appointments in the afternoon so I will
let you know what happens. I have lived
in portsmouth most my life in the copnor
and milton area and was so surprised to
see you live portsmouth.

Hi there mirry I hope yr scan went well.
I forgot to mention I also get a lot of
strong upper back pain which then spreads
down into the mid line back, have u had
any of this also I get a very stiff neck
mainly on the left but also right in the
centre up by the base of the skull. I
know when mine is going to play up I get a
very stiff left side jaw. Have u also
been experiencing this. This all started
with a sore throat on the left side when I
was 7wks pregnant my baby is now 8mths.
Please reply as I would like to no how it
went for u and did u have a ct scan or
ultra scan.

i am having same problem and I have been
trying to do some self research about what
it is and what caused it....
Last night I drank a bit too much and was
smoking like a chimney, and I sing kereoke
too, lol dont know if I strained my vocal
cords, or am getting sick or what...Here
are my symptoms:
left side of toungue and under sore and
inflammed
pain when swollowing, mostly left side
whish I knew what was going on!

I dont know if this could be a swollen
gland. Or maybe a saliva stone.
How r u feeling now?
Maybe u should see if it continues for the
next 48 hrs if so go and see yr doctor.

lol yeah I had a blast at kereoke! People
tell me I sound just like sheryl crow, lol
( I wish) maybe its from the smoking, ha
ha.
Next day is a little better in my throat
but not totally better...I still feel a
little lump, and dryness in my throat on
left side, and left side of my toungue is
still irritated. If I stick my toungue
out it catches on my teeth. But im pretty
sure its not a canker b/c its not
sensitive to orange juice or anything, its
not open, just sore and swollen. And
gland in throat is swollen on left side
too.
I havent gone to the doctor, I am hoping
it will go away on own....If its not
better in a couple days I probably will I
guess. I hope its better by saturday so
I can go sing kereoke again, :)

condition?
I do have tmj and have terrible pain in
my
lower jaw and down left side of neck in
throat
area. I have lots of tingling in my
throat area
also. Do you smoke?

I've found (after years of research and
failed attempts by numerous Dr.'s to
resolve this issue) that the reason for my
sharp pain that begins under the ear,
following the jaw line (making my teeth
hurt) and down into the side of the throat
is due to blocked eustachian tubes.
An over the counter decongestant helps
drain the tube and resolves the pain.
I'll also get a tickling in the ear, like
fluid is in it. This happens to me
several times a year, in the Spring and
Fall and will stay around off and on
throughout the season.
I've always thought it was allergy
related. The Dr. finally admitted that
this is what it probably is, but can't be
sure. The main thing is to keep the
eustachian tube drained so you don't
suffer loss of hearing.
