What Is a Walking Epi?
Posted: 09-21-05 18:35pm

Ok I have some new questions. When I am in labor how long will they offer a pain killer? I mean like do they have certin cm and then they stop giving.

Cause I plan on doing it all natural unless I just get to the point that I cant. But I was wondering say I am like 5cm will they give me an epi if I ask. Also say I get it right away how long will they give it to me. What is a walking epi?

What type of pain killer.

Ok this I can help with... Yay.. Ok theres a few different pain killers you can take while in labor. Theres normally nothing they will do until you are 4-5 cm dialated but I think they might not sure give demeral or a light pain killer til then, had it with my first but not with any of my others.

Http://ks.Essortment .Com/laborpain_rapv.Htm

that gives you the list and all the info on what drugs you can get while in labor if you decide you need something...
Personally I have had demerol with my first, 4 hours then when they checked my for my epi I was ready to deliver. My sec was natural, she just kinda popped out after 2 hours. My 3rd natural, but I did get an epi problem was it didn't kick in til after I had given birth (6 hours). My 4th epi and that was heaven on earth (15 hours). I would suggest epi just cause most of the other drugs ( other then the local) mess with the baby also. The epi has no effect on the baby but there is effects. Its really all up to you and how much pain you can coop with. I have a low tolerance for pain but it was higher during labor. But once I could and was able to get an epi I did... And I would do it again. Only thing that sucked for the epi for me was the cathider.
