What exactly are genital warts and can they effect your new born child?

Genital warts are caused by the human papilloma virus. I don't know what effect it has on a child (possible reason to have a c-section?) but it does put you at much higher risk of cervical cancer.

I believe there may have been a chance to give the virus tot he child during delivery, but you said newborn, so i'm assuming the baby is already here. I'd ask your doctor, as this has to do with a child, which makes it first priority.

The main risk there is to a new born or a baby that is about to be born vaginally, is the hpv virus can grow inside a persons mouth and throat as well as in their vagina. A newborn would not have the immunity and could possibly develop them in his or her mouth as well as on the face.

If you have an outbreak before or during delivery then you risk getting the virus into the baby's eyes. When the virus enters the eyes it can cause permanent blindness.
