Does Withdrawal Work?
Posted: 09-22-05 09:23am

I was just wondering if any of you young mothers have gotten pregnant off the withdrawal method?

I just gave birth to my daughter jamya on september 1st and I am worried that I might be pregnant again, I am due for my period 2moro, so I guess i'll find out soon.

Thanks, aniyah

Firstly you shouldn't be having sex so soon after giving birth. It can cause damage. Secondly .N.O. The withdrawal method does not work. I have a 3 month old who I love to pieces using the withdrawal method. Especially after just having a baby your chances are much higher to get pregnant without some form of birth control. I f you don;t want another one right away, get some birth control when you go back for your 6 week check up!

oh ya I missed that. Maybe from her periods before. If that is the case, you will not be getting it tomorrow, your period time will change. I only got my period like 2 months after having my son.

Idealy, you should be waiting 6 weeks before having sex, because your body is open to infections, and you're healing, so i'd stop having sex until your 6 week post partum check up.

Secondly - yes, you can get pregnant from the withdrawl method, it's not even a method, I would not use it. Condoms, or get on birth control at your 6 week appt.

Thank you guys so much! See, during my entire pregnancy I didn't have prenatal care and I had no idea about this stuff. They may have told me at the hospital but I must have not been paying attention. The doctor that delivered jamya recommended me to come to his office for my 6 wk check up and I already made an appt. Sorry for the confusion and thanks again!

You had no prenatal care???????? Is your baby ok? Why did u have no care? No offense but that's not very responsible. I hope you're gonna take your baby to her check ups and to get her vaccinations and stuff.

Is there a reason you didn't have any prenatel care during your pregnancy? There really should have been nothing stopping you, unless you didn't know you were pregnant until you delivered, which I can't really see happening, lol.
