Is Ivf 100% Safe And Reliable? Should I Go For It? Posted: 09-23-05 20:34pm
Hello. I'd like someone to give an
opinion. I'm 40 years old and never had a
child before. My husband and I went to a
doctor 5 years ago and after some test
they told us we both were infertile. But
I have found an institute that promises a
very effective method of ivf, and with no
risks at all. You can take a look at them
at
inseminati
on ivf
what do you think? Thank you

The link you posted doesn't work at all,
but if there is anyone promising 100%
effective ivf, they are probably a scam.
Ivf -- in vitro fertilisation -- involves
taking eggs from the woman, and
fertilising it in a dish with sperm from
the man. In order to get the eggs, the
woman has to take heavy hormones, to
produce enough to harvest. If she is
infertile because she is no longer
producing eggs, then she needs to use
donor eggs. Similarly, if the man is
infertile because he doesn't produce any
sperm, you need to use donor sperm.
The fertilised eggs are then implanted
inside the uterus.
I think ivf is generally considered quite
safe, although some women get quite ill
from the hormones. However, it isn't
particularly reliable -- and the older you
are, the less likely the pregnancy is to
"take".
