I'm a counselor at a crisis pregnancy center (a women's resource center) and i've seen all kinds of things. The only 100% way to avoid pregnancy and any side effects (some that can be very serious) from birth control methods is abstinence.

It's always good to find out thoroughly before trying... To avoid the side effects and risks involved.

I have never had an iud myself, but I know that my sister-in-law got pregnant on it.

Depo is evil!!!
Trust me you do not want to get on that. About 90% of the women I know who have been on that have horror stories to tell afterwards (like me who has had her period for 3 months at a time a year after I stopped taking it )

my sister has had a iud. She loves it and when she had it taken out had no problem getting pregnant again. Google it, thats what I would do but for sure you want to research whatever birth control you are going to be on. I learned that the hard way
