I really don't know what to do. I feel
that I am maybe jumping to conclusions too
quickly. I keep reading everyones posts
and I feel that I have something in common
with everyone. I have noticed that I
have not been them same person for about 2
years now. I have been on
ortho-tri-cyclen since 2000. Last year I
switched to tri-sprintec, the generic, due
to the cost. I was still unhappy with
that. Let me explain, I have significant
weight gain, a decreased sex drive, and
extreme moodiness. I seem to be
constantly insecure in my relationship.
I just got married and I really would like
some advice. I am considering going off
of the pill. I really just need some
guidance. Thanks in advance!

I had the same symptoms as you. I
started the pill in january as I was
getting married in april. I quit taking
the pill in august due to moodiness,
weight gain, loss of sex drive and an
overall feeling of blah. Now my husband
and I are using condoms and they're great.
I wish we would have used those all
along!

Cancer? Posted: 10-13-05 23:42pm
My girlfriend is about to start the patch
and im worried because I have a friend who
was recently diagnosed with cancer. She
swears that the only thing she changed in
her life before being diagnosed was
switching from the pill to the patch.
She feels very strongly that it was
because of the patch. Has anyone else
heard of the risk of cancer with the
patch???

I would ask a Doctor or RN about that I
never heard of that. Post your question to
one of the doctors on here or a really
good idea is to read all you can about it.
Good Luck

This is a not entirely true. Recent
literature has said that there is little
to no connection between Ortho Evra (BC
patch) hormones and breast cancer.
Actually, a benefit to being on the patch
is to help prevent cancer. Your friend's
logic is not quite right...other things
probably caused the cancer, not the single
thing she remembers.
As to the original poster- it might be
good for you to go off the BC and then
when you're ready, talk to your doc about
a different type. Perhaps your body needs
a lower dose of hormones instead of what
tri-sprintec (or in general, you just need
a diff kind of BC!). If you go off BC,
just remember to use a diff form of
protection if you don't want to get
pregnant.
