How Long It Takes the Hiv Virus to Die In Dried Blood. Posted: 10-04-05 04:54am
This is a very common question people
asked, how long it takes the virus to die
in the dried blood, such as a little
amount nose bleed. I searched on
internet, but the answer was not unique.
Someone says few mins when other says few
hours. The reason why I asked was that my
colleague had nose bleed all the time. He
often use my keyboard. Once he use his
finger to wipe the blood off when he is
typing on my keyboard (without wash his
hand). I used the keyboard about 10 mins
after that. The problem is I feel my skin
was itch and I scratched my skin. I think
my skin was a little broken since got some
blood on my finger. It didn't cross to my
head until one day I red an artical about
hiv. I am worried since then. So, is
there anyone know how risky I am? Should
I go aheah to take a hiv test? Or am I
just playing with my mind? Thanks for
anyone can help.

To my knowledge from internet and other
sources, hiv is a very weak virus outside
the body. Compared to other possible
viruses like hepatitus virus which can
live for hours and days hiv dies off
within 45 seconds if exposed to external
atmosphere. It cannot live any further.

Actually at room temp. Researchers are
now saying that the hiv virus can live for
24 hours in dried blood.

Can is not a definite though like "it
will"; it's just another way of saying
maybe.
