Can regular doctors diagnose vaginal
infections such as a yeast infection or do
only gynecologists do that? How do they
diagnose this?

A regular dr should be able to unless the
infection has been there too long &
spread up inside & perhaps become more
serious. Start with the regular dr,
preferably one with some common sense
& who will actually listen to you, the
patient before making a diagnosis!!

If I were you, i'd go to the gynocologist.
They can diagnose the yeast infection and
check for other things at the same time.
If you do have a yeast infection, you
should get a prescription for the pill
diflucan. It's just one pill and it
clears away the symptoms in a few days.

...By the way, they diagnose this by
checking various symptoms: if you have
terrible itching and a whitish, cottage
cheese discharge ( that typically smells
foul).

The way I have always been tested, is the
doctor (or gyno) takes a sample and looks
at it under a microscope. They can tell
this way if it is a yeast infection or
bacterial or whatever. A regular doctor
can do it as well as a gyno.
