Am I Still Protected? Please Help!!! Posted: 10-04-05 14:21pm
The story:
my period came with 6 active pills left
(this past friday).
After talking to a nurse she told me that
it was normal and not to worry about it.
(i had recently switched birth control
brands.)
i wasn't sure when I should start my new
pack so I called her again and she told me
to start a new pack on sunday and hung up
on me!!!
Unfortunately my insurance wouldn't allow
me to get my prescription refilled until
wednesday (tomorrow) and since she was
rude I didn't want to bother her again.
My question:
am I still protected from pregnancy if I
start my pills tomorrow or do I need to
use a back up method for a week?
I know I usually would be protected during
my period but since I didn't finish my
whole pack of active pills, i'm a little
worried and was hoping someone could help
me out.

Just to be safe you should use a back up
method for a week or two...I'd do two
weeks but that's me...
Sometimes when you switch brand it can
cause you to bleed...Also when you are on
birth control and your body is just
getting used to it you can bleed...
Mention it to your doctor to be sure. :)

Just be careful if you don't want a baby.
I got pregnant while on the pill...So if
I were you i'd use a back up. I don't
think your chances of getting preggy are
very high because normally it takes a
while to get preggy after just stopping
the pill. Everyone is diffrent.
