Complete Loss of Appetite Posted: 10-05-05 12:09pm
Hi everybody. I'm wondering if anyone has
any ideas what might cause you to lose
your appetite. I'm finding it so hard to
eat, if it wasnt for my mum keeping her
beady eye on me, i'd probably not bother.
At the moment I dont have breakfast or
lunch, just a small dinner. I do eat
fruit and drink lots but these are a poor
substitute for proper meals! I have
autoimmune thyroid disease but my thyroid
is functioning on well its own right now
and has been for the last 3 months. I
normally have such a good appetite and
demolish meals! Its bizarre but i'm
losing weight. I've spoken to my gp but
they dont really want to know. So far
i've lost about two stone (over about 6
months). People are starting to notice,
and I am getting bored with forcing myself
to eat. Any help much appreciated. :)

I'm not sure what a gp is, i'm never good
with abbreviations. What you're going
through right now is not a good thing,
even if you don't want to eat, you have to
get the right nutrients in your body. I
really suggest going to find someone who
can help you out with this, because not
eating or not wanting to eat is a serious
problem.

Not Wanting to Eat Help Posted: 10-22-05 01:23am
I feel that I don't want to eat either its
not that I have a problem with my weight
and I am skinny and I know I should be
eating. But I don't know why I can't eat
I feel I can go a whole day without eating
and I don't understand why I find forcing
myself to eat, but I feel sick. Whats
wrong?

If you dont eat like you should and not
eat at all sometimes it makes it harder
for u to eat something when u know u
should. Sometimes I have that problem,
just the sight of food makes me sick. I
usually just try to eat slowly and build
back up to eating right, but thats me.
Hopefully it will help.

I have a very crazy schedule with school
and work and each day is different for
eating times. I have found that since
this has happened I do not feel like
eating all the time and sort of get used
to the idea, and my stomach does too.
This is also kind of like when I was
younger and never ate breakfast before
school. I physically felt sick if I ate
breakfast. What I did is I slowly
increased food intake in the morning until
I could eat a good meal size for breakfast
without feeling sick. Same thing for all
meals. You need to time meals and set up
a plan to build up the amounts of food you
eat. Start small like a piece of fruit or
toast and build up to meals. This has
worked for me, and in my current situation
I know that I have a sparratic schedule
and I need to make sure I fit in proper
meals!
