Governor Signs Anti-abortion Law Posted: 10-06-05 14:02pm
Governor matt blunt signed legislation
thursday that immediately restricts access
to abortion in missouri.
Just after 2:00 pm thursday afternoon, it
became impossible to get a legal abortion
in springfield.
"i'm sad. I'm very sad for the women of
this area," said michelle turner-collins
with the springfield healthcare center.
The new law requires physicians who
perform abortions to have clinical
privileges at a hospital within 30 miles
of the clinic. The st. Louis doctor that
annually performs about 1,500 abortions
here does not have those privileges.
The facility's administrator says the
change will force women to travel three to
four hours to get an abortion, or take
desperate measures.
"i was sickened yesterday when a patient
told me that financially she couldn't
afford to drive columbia, st. Louis, or
kansas city," turner-collins said. "and
she said, I will probably take matters
into my own hands."
dave plemmons with missouri right to life
said, "they're always talking about safe
and legal. Well, it's legal but abortion
is not safe."
missouri right to life says this will not
only reduce the number of abortions, but
require clinics to become more accountable
for a woman's health after the
procedure.
"you've got a fly in or drive in and go
back out. What happens when a woman has
infections or she's bleeding? No one's
there to pick up the pieces," said
plemmons.
Because the bill was passed with an
emergency clause, it goes into effect
immediately. Women who had abortions
scheduled for as early as monday cannot
have that procedure done.
The director of springfield's clinic has
filed for clinical privileges at one of
the hospitals here, but there's no telling
whether it will be granted.
They should have thought about the
consequences first.. What if abortion was
never founded then what would they have
done?????

He does not care very much about an
unwanted pregnancy, is this guy against
women, against choice, does he not think
abortion will still not happen, bs, it
happened before when women were pregnant
and some were butchered, he obviously does
not care

first off... They should choose there
significant other wisely.. 2nd off they
shouldnt be having sex or playing house if
you would if they dont want to except the
cosequences that come with it.. And on
the other note.. I have 3 girls that I am
raising.. So it is all up to the
parenting and the childrens choice that
they make. But I am a mother so if my
children get into trouble I will be right
there for them.. And to answer your
question I am not dirty.. I am very clean
and open minded. If you are going to
judge me you have to do better than this

I also feel sorry for the people of
missouri. It is a step backwards in human
rights.
Oh, did I say human rights? Yeah, I did.
human,not just women.
Because abortions affect the men too,
husbands, boyfriends, fathers...
One note that is women-oriented:
we should have the right to have sex and
not get pregnant; men have that right, why
can't we?! If a young girl is raped, she
should have the right to live out her
childhood, her teens, the way she should
live them, not have it ruined by rape!

used coathangers, their were backstreet
butcherers having a choice does not mean
that we have to have an abortion.
When those sheets get ragged, you get rid

them too, but I would not intrude. My
kids know that I am open minded that is
why they talk to me as a friend more than

helped raise more than you,so get off your

If someone wants to have sex, they will
have sex, responsible or not all you can
do is to hand them a few condoms and hope
by gosh they use them, and their is a lot
that will not use them, I know, ideal with

about free b/c, but as long as we can help
one out of 12 it is great, yet sad!

now, that I never want children.
However, I don't know if i'll always feel

your right, it really shouldn't have to be
for people who don't want babies. But
since we don't live in that perfect world,
it unfortunetly is.
There are consequences for having sex
without protection. There are
consequences for not educating yourself
about ovualtion and when your more likely
to get pregnant. There are consequences
for having sex when your not ready for
potential outcomes.
