!! Help !!
Posted: 12-04-03 06:46am

I was in a long term relationship that ended in 2001. The last time we had sex was december 14th-ish 2001.
My partner / ex-partner started seeing someone else and had a baby october 22nd 2002.

Her periods have always been really irregular so cannot ascertain the time of the last one exactly? She was constantly between two hospitals, during the pregnancy, they got her notes and dates quite confused and were a little unsure of the due date.

When she gave birth they had to do an emergency cesarean due to the fact that her fluids (the ones around the baby I believe Confused Were really low.)

her new partner is mixed race and quite dark, the baby is really fair with blonde hair and blue eyes, as do i.

Taking into account the dates and info above is there any chance that the baby could be mine?? Thought of paternity tests etc. But if its not even possible then it would be pointless.

??????????? Going insane wondering ??????????????

Any help and information would be greatly appreciated Smile

Hi stevee,

yes there is a definate possibility going by the dates you have given, that the baby could be yours. The fact that her partner is dark, and the baby is fair, is another indication that there is a strong possibility the child is yours. To be honest, your ex would have been quite aware of her last period date, and who the father was most likely to be. You need to ask for a paternity test to put your mind at ease. If this child is yours, you have every right as a father to be involved in it's upbringing.

Good luck

Stevee,

1) yes the baby might be yours - or might take after the mother.

2) if you have a paternity test & you are the father, there's consequences, not just financial ones & not just for you but for the mother & her new b/f & most importantly for the baby.

3) the baby is the one who should really count here, so if you can't or won't be a part of this child's life (if you are the father) then don't make hassles that could emotionally hurt the child.

4) if though you would & could be a part of the child's life then definitely take the paternity test & hopefully everyone will benefit.

Good luck

Hi thanks alot for your replies.

I have sat down with a hundred different calendars just incase they had different days and dates on or something ! !

It is 311 days since we slept together to the birth, 44 weeks and 4 days. Excuse my naivety, but is that possible?

As for the well being of the child, if it is possible and she did turn out to be my daughter, the financial side or the emotional side wouldn’t be a problem and I would love to be part of her life.

I can never get the nagging thoughts from my head that she may be my daughter and I have been missing so much if this is the case, the minimal contact I have had with her mother since. She has said she often wondered if she could be mine?

If it is definitely possible then I think the paternity test is the next step.

Do pregnancies go that long? Is it normal? Very unlikely? Likely? Possible?

Thanks again
